Mormons aren’t Christian at the heart of this. 🤦♂️
(We’re a cult apparently. I converted three years ago and still don’t feel like I joined a cult. Maybe I’m brainwashed and stupid 🤷♂️ it’s so tiresome 😒 tbh)
It seemingly comes down to, “my interpretation is the correct one” and The Chosen tries to connect and reach with all Christians regardless and I don’t like that.
I get the multi-lane highway approach and having concern about dilution of the gospel. That is real I think. We can’t fully commit to destructive kindness as this would lead to anarchy and tear apart the gospel. And strict interpretation and forced lock-step understanding of the scriptures seems like an equal path to destruction of the ministry Christ taught.
At what point does rigid orthodoxy turn into authoritarian theological rule contrary to the very thing Jesus was teaching for His ministry? I’m not sure. But, saying the LDS church is a cult 🤡 and being against a popular TV show portraying Jesus Christ in fairly good and morally centered light seems like tearing down something unnecessarily.
Of course, the laws of God should not be set aside. But, there should be a balance found between spirit of the law and letter of the law, and that is where Jesus Christ resides imho.
I don’t agree with every portrayal of what is shared in The Chosen. Heck, I don’t agree with everything that’s shared in Sunday School or with my closest friends in church.
We have agency and individual brains that allow us to think for ourselves and look at the scriptures with differing eyes and then discuss for refinement opportunities together or accepting disagreements with mutual respect and full admiration for Jesus Christ.
I, for one, don’t feel like we should go back to more dark times when leaders of the church alone got to read, interpret, and share the gospel of Jesus Christ to the world with a more isolated understanding available and less diversity of thought on the biblical scriptures including the Book of Mormon.
The Chosen offers an entertainment driven, scripture connected, imagining of the life of Christ through a lens that followers can relate and enjoy while using discernment to understand, and newbies can be inspired and connect with to scriptures they’ll then find discernment in understanding.
Seems like a win-win for growing the body of Christ. 🙏🙌🦾
Just my thoughts though, yours?
Okay, but hear me out: what if Kamala Harris just started actually doing the things that she has promised to do if she wins the election? She's the VP or?
BREAKING: Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has signed an executive order forcing public hospitals in the state to document patients’ immigration status so the cost of illegal aliens in the healthcare system can be calculated and billed to the federal government.
When my mom told me that she was pregnant again, I replied "Great, another one for the litter." My dad slapped me so hard, I woke up on the floor. I spent every weekend of my teenage years babysitting until I left home. Never looked back.
