Come work with me in #Oman@BSMuscat We use @WALKTHRUs_5, PCK discussions and #coaching for CPD with a focus on reducing pointless workload & slowly increasing our effectiveness. A beautiful country to explore and an awesome department to work in! Apply 👉https://t.co/2i98mKfsgl
@ChatIntSchools#ChatIntSchools In #eyfs ask lots of questions from the parent of what would help them settle. In communication, use images and gesture, strong routines and clear timetabling. Communicate with parents. Encourage the class to support the new friend and, make learning fun!
@ChatIntSchools When they first join, having a buddy who speaks the same mother tongue is a must, having a member of staff that speaks the language would also be ideal.
In lessons I often allow them to translate, I ask myself am I assessing their ideas or their communication.

😎 Happy Saturday everyone!
❓ Today's question: How can we support EAL students in international schools? Share your ideas with the community!

@ChatIntSchools Research thoroughly and when you do move, find out what you cant get easily in your new country. Home comforts like decent bedding, salt and vinegar crisps, good cookware etc really help in the first few months (talking from experience after moving to Nepal!)
@ChatIntSchools Make sure your values match with the schools you’re looking at, it’s a big commitment and you want to make sure you’re aligned. Check on things like health insurance in the host countries.
@ChatIntSchools Take the time to ask ALL of your questions before accepting a position. Making the move is a big commitment and you’re entitled to getting any of the answers that you need. It can be a significant transition and the less surprises that come your way the better.
@ChatIntSchools ☑️ Research the school don't be seduced by a recognised name. ISR and reddit good for this.
☑️ Have a financial plan. Read Millionaire Teacher
☑️ Don't pick a country based on financial gain alone. You've got to LIVE there
Best move I ever made hands down!

@HarrietLinberg@ChatIntSchools@TeamEnglishNC@EnglishWales Absolutely 100% go for it. I was 35 when I made the move to international teaching and I’ve never regretted it. Happy to chat further if you have any questions about moving 😊
