This video is going viral from the Bhaniyawala-Rishikesh highway, where a protester opposing the felling of more than 3,000 trees was allegedly removed by police while sitting peacefully on the road.

For over a week, local residents and environmental activists have been protesting to save these trees. Whether one agrees with the project or not, their concern for the forests deserves to be heard, not dismissed.

Perhaps no one has told them that trees can now be “grown” on political stages too.

The forests, unfortunately, don’t grow that way.
