Since yesterday, many people have been sending me videos and asking why these trees are being cut. I spoke to senior officials of the Chandigarh Administration regarding the matter.

According to the officials, a cycle track is proposed to be constructed at this location.

While travelling from Cricket Stadium Chowk towards Matka Chowk, a cycle track already exists on this stretch.

However, there is no cycle track on the return side from Matka Chowk towards Cricket Stadium Chowk.

Around two years ago, a doctor lost his life at this spot. Following that tragic incident, decision was taken to construct a cycle track here to improve cyclist safety.
