@tonedeafandh0t this just feels like you’re looking for something to be mad about bc contextually it’s pretty clear that no number is really going to be the right answer here
@PrincessKikiM98 Sure Sony had final say but in what world is it normal that BL had a cut-bypassing the director. You’re reframing your argument once I pushed back on a dishonest portrayal. Sony knew it would tank the film if they didn’t have her promoting and cause drama/rumors so they gave in.
@TakehimhomeF@delenasconrad generational isn’t referring to family here but rather the era. Its related to people saying once in a generation talent to say you’re that much above your peers (in this case they both are that much better than the rest of players in their age group range)
@abitofwhimsy_@sameoldcircuit I can see that argument holding for some pre show critiques but at this point the majority of fans are saying they’re here to defend Shane against criticism I don’t actually see.
@ghoapdreams@dieMaehms@pyresque The commenters def should be respectful! I think where we’re diverging here is the boundaries on comments. I doubt comments praising the work unconditionally get pushback but when readers/authors want to further engage with in-depth discourse we run into the precarious ground.
@bbgirlprince I get sooo frustrated by this bc I’ve seen so many think pieces about people saying they’re ready to go to bat for Shane next season but not actually anyone hating on him….
@ghoapdreams@dieMaehms@pyresque Sure but my point was that both sides can act in bad faith (uninvited criticism vs misconstruing genuine discussion). Part of it is bc it’s often hard to ascribe the tone so people will assume it’s negative but it cause a cycle that disincentivizes comments.
@ghoapdreams@dieMaehms@pyresque The bar for what’s considered criticism/hate is so low for some that general discussion of the plot can be seen as an attack… a lot of readers have been burned by this and get overly conscious to the point they barely comment. Not saying this is you, just adding perspective.
@mirtadella@connorstarchive for sure! I see this more about the other mc’s rather than Shane who is the only one who really gets and reaches out to Ilya
@laanatdelreye why are you straw manning? the issue isn’t praising Shane, it’s that they act like Ilya “isnt worthy” of him and every single one of his friends have to ask about how Ilya got Shane to date him and never the reverse (feels very fmc coded…)
@scannanfein it’s only ever “just a fictional character” when they shit on Ilya but they’ll step all over RR about Shane and how bad they think she treats him - it’s never just a fictional character then but about the real people that feel represented by him. so hypocritical in their hatred…
