Day 237 - Spinning at Daily Turntable, @BBVD Big Bad Voodoo Daddy - Louie, Louie, Louie. Released in 2017, the band’s eleventh studio album celebrates three great jazz legends: Louis Armstrong, Louis Jordan, and Louis Prima.
@RBLRRowdies The timing and chemistry seem off with Archer in the backline. That doesn’t explain the lack of offense though. Sometimes it feels that the lineup is too inconsistent, but a lot of that is obviously due to injuries.
Day 134 - Spinning at Daily Turntable, @U2 U2’s The Joshua Tree. U2's manager Paul McGuinness recounted that The Joshua Tree originated from the band's "great romance" with the US, as they had toured the country for up to five months per year in the first half of the 1980s
Day 131 - Spinning at Daily Turntable, The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars - David Bowie. The glam rock and proto-punk musical styles were influenced by Iggy Pop, the Velvet Underground and Marc Bolan.
Day 109 - Spinning at Daily Turntable, another RSD ‘26 release, the 25th Anniversary of Joe Strummer and The Mescaleros - Global A Go-Go. The world music influences celebrating the "humble" but diverse and exciting ethnic and multi-cultural areas of London and other major cities.
Day 91 - Spinning at Daily Turntable, the third studio album from The Brian Setzer Orchestra - The Dirty Boogie. The arrangements, the horns , the guitar, this album kicks from start to finish. Dropping in ‘98 at the apex of the swing revival with Prima’s “Jump, Jive, and Wail”.
Day 88 - Spinning at Daily Turntable, 1984 release from @BigCountryUK - Big Country - Wonderland. Released as an EP in the states, the title track “Wonderland” is among my all-time faves from the band and the EP did nicely to fill the gap between The Crossing and Steeltown.
Day 86 - Spinning at Daily Turntable the 2025 @recordstoreday release from Post Malone - A Tribute to Nirvana. This vinyl release was produced from an April 2020 live-stream event during COVID lockdown.
Day 84 - Spinning at Daily Turntable, the fifth studio album from R.E.M. 1987’s, Document. This was their first top ten album and also contained their first top ten single, “The One I Love”. This one also contained the ever popular, “It’s The End of the World As we Know It”.
