In 1988, California, Ellie Nesler’s 6-year-old son was molested by 35-year-old Daniel Driver while attending Christian camp.
Driver, who’d been accused of sexually abusing multiple children, was arrested and the case sent to a preliminary hearing 5 years later in 1993.
During the hearing, Ellie walked right up to Driver, pulled out a pistol and shot him five times in the head.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
“I may not be God,” she said “but I’m the closest damn thing to it”
Ellie was sentenced to 10 years, but released after serving 3 years after striking a plea deal.
The case sparked massive national debate on vigilantism: hero or cold blooded killer?
“I've seen women insist on cleaning everything in the house before they could sit down to write... and you know it's a funny thing about housecleaning... it never comes to an end. Perfect way to stop a woman. A woman must be careful to not allow over-responsibility (or over-respectabilty) to steal her necessary creative rests, riffs, and raptures. She simply must put her foot down and say no to half of what she believes she "should" be doing. Art is not meant to be created in stolen moments only.” - Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estés
You mean Women birth life, give life and restore life?!! God bless women in numerous ways. And men still have the audacity to say they're equal to us??
