Without a doubt the heaviest day to Tamil Nadu monsoon in a long time. In almost all district one heavy rainfall recorded.

Not able to mention one district. Every district has got heavy rains.

Manjolai la Oothu 500 mm poiduchu.

Mayiladuthurai-Cuddalore belt pounded and some 300 mm too.

Thoothukudi Kovilpatti 350+ mm

Courtallam saw historic flows

Dindigul too got heavy rains.

Perambalur-Ariyalaur got massive rains.

Ramanathpuram, Virudhunagar got heavy rains

Near KTCC - Ranipet is pounded, which means Nandhiyar got massive run-off and Poondi dam is getting inflows close to 13000 cusecs. Water release will be increased to 12000 cusecs

Tenkasi - 300 mm+ recorded in Ayikudi and entire district which had poor NEM in one day it is going into excess

KTCC (Chennai) - Not a drop will fall complete break in rainfall surplus water from Chembarabakkam would be released too, Puzhal too would join. Poondi 12000 cusecs is being released.

The Sathanur Dam has sparked intense political debates in Tamilnadu, but what are the ground realities ?

The unanticipated release of 1.8 lakh cusecs of water from the #SathanurDam in Tiruvannamalai district on Sunday night and Monday early morning may have caused flooding in areas along the Thenpennai river in #Tiruvannamalai, #Villupuram, and #Cuddalore districts. However, the lack of clear details about flood levels and proper instructions to move to relief shelters during the initial hours left residents in unnecessary hardship. While the Tamil Nadu government claims it followed standard operating procedures and alerted those living along the riverbanks, a TNIE visit to these villages revealed that most residents either didn’t receive adequate warnings or found the communication insufficient.

This is Cuddalore Thenpennai aaru, flooded because of water release from Satanur dam, people have been evacuated. It's not the rains which is affecting these areas, it's the overflowing reservoirs
