@EddieComeaux Colleges should invest more on education and training for law enforcement! They need PROPER training. Why should students have to go through YEARS of training while law enforcement goes through a training camp for a couple weeks and they are good to go? #racialjustice
@EmilyRamelot @MisssNallely Hello Emily, I completely agree with you on that. They are being forced to prioritize sports before their own well being and education. The NCAA is pushing them to do that instead of helping them. #Ucr150@MisssNallely @rabea_qamar
Student athletes are forced to put sports related activities and responsibilities first before their education. How is the NCAA helping them if they are forcing them to prioritize sports before their own education? #ucr150 @rabea_qamar @MisssNallely
@edgar_xxr@MisssNallely @rabea_qamar Hello Edgar, I completely agree with you. It’s beyond unfair how much the NCAA tries to act like they care for these students and yet their policies and treatment of SA reflect otherwise. #ucr150@MisssNallely @rabea_qamar
It’s crazy that the NCAA nonstop talks about prioritizing student athletes well being and academics and yet everything that they do is the opposite of what they preach. It’s beyond unfair how much they neglect these students. #ucr150@MisssNallely @rabea_qamar
@jmedi023 @rabea_qamar @MisssNallely Hi Jacqueline! I completely agree with you. This is unfair to the student athletes, it just goes to show that they are athletes before they are students in the NCAA’s eyes. #ucr150@MisssNallely @rabea_qamar
The NCAA gives no room to the student athletes when in comes to transfers. It’s unfair towards these SA especially as students. This proves the NCAA do not care for their academic career only their sports career. #Ucr150 @rabea_qamar @MisssNallely
@HaileyGaribay2 @rabea_qamar @MisssNallely I totally agree with you. There needs to be more awareness on this issue! In order to help reduce these sports-related injuries, we need more education on the topic! #educ150 @rabea_qamar @MisssNallely
Through any sport, not just football, SA are getting concussions. There needs to be more awareness for the safety of these athletes. We need to put more effort into educating others on the harms of these injuries and ways to prevent them. #ucr150 @rabea_qamar @MisssNallely
@EmilyRamelot @MisssNallely Hello Emily, I completely agree with you! Women's sports is undervalued compared to men's sports. We often hear about men's sports in society; clearly showing which one is more "important". #ucr150 @rabea_qamar @MisssNallely
#Ucr150 @rabea_qamar @MisssNallely Title IX sole purpose was for women athletes; to bring equality between both men and women athletes. However, even up until now women athletes are not receiving equal treatment, benefits and even credit for any of their accomplishments.
@ucrbrooke @rabea_qamar @MisssNallely Hi Brooke, I totally agree with you. Institutions take advantage of these student athletes. In order to keep their scholarships, they must focus on their sports, where does that leave room for their education? #ucr150@MisssNallely @rabea_qamar
#ucr150@MisssNallely @rabea_qamar When student athletes sign the National Letter of Intent, are they provided with information regarding what they truly are signing up for? Throughout the readings it has been emphasized that student athletes are not at all benefiting from this.
@Connie_Ochoa_ @MisssNallely @rabea_qamar #ucr150@MisssNallely @rabea_qamar I agree with you Connie! The fact that athletes are put into these types of situations is beyond unfair to them. They work so hard for these scholarships while sacrificing their physical and mental health.
#Ucr150@MisssNallely @rabea_qamar The NCAA make it harder for student athletes both physically and mentally. They give up so much of their time and even emotional well being to earn their scholarships..often they don’t have enough time or a healthy mental state for education.
@edgar_xxr@helloJuJudy Hi edgar, i fully agree with you. It's super shocking that the NCAA, which was created for the purpose of helping these student athletes, are taking advantage of these students and mistreating them instead.
This week's reading and video 1 has shown me how crazy it is that college athletes are still being mistreated. There were many things/groups created for their sake in order to be fair to them; however they are still the ones being taken advantage of. @helloJuJudy#ucr150
