Philly Cheesesteak Casserole

Ingredients
1 Ib ground beef
1 small onion, sliced
1 green bell pepper, sliced
8 oz mushrooms, sliced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup shredded provolone or mozzarella
½ cup cream cheese
½ cup beef broth
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
Salt and black pepper

Directions
Brown the ground beef in a skillet; drain excess grease.
Add onion, bell pepper, mushrooms, and garlic. Cook until softened.
Stir in cream cheese, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper.
Transfer to a baking dish and top with shredded cheese.
Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 15-20 minutes, until bubbly and golden.
Serve hot.

Nick Saban spent 17 seasons at Alabama, won six national championships there, retired in 2024, and pretty much went straight from the sideline to College GameDay.

For years we saw the serious coach pacing the sideline. Now Pat McAfee has him trying giant ribs, sandwiches and whatever else shows up on that desk, and Saban just goes along with it.

We’re getting to see a completely different side of him now that he isn’t coaching.

In 1985, JoAnn Nichols disappeared from her home in New York. Her husband reported her missing.

Twenty-seven years later, they finally found her.

She had never left the house.

JoAnn was 55 years old and a first-grade teacher in Poughkeepsie. Her husband James told police he came home from work and found a typed note from her. The next day, her car was found at a nearby shopping center, but there was no sign of JoAnn.

Years went by. James kept living in the same house, and the case just sat there.

When he died in 2012, the house was so packed with clutter that a contractor was brought in to clean it out. While working in the basement, he found a false wall.

Behind it was a sealed container.

Inside were JoAnn’s remains.

Dental records confirmed it was her. The medical examiner said she had died from blunt-force trauma to the head.

For 27 years, people wondered where JoAnn Nichols had gone.

She had been inside her own home the entire time.

They suspected her husband from the beginning, but never searched the house. How different would this case have been if they had?

Here’s another little update on the work at our house! The sod has already been laid by the landscaping company, and I have to say, I’m really impressed with how good it looks. I honestly expected them to put down grass seed and cover it with hay, so I was pleasantly surprised when I saw that they brought in beautiful, fresh sod instead.

After all the weeks of watching the storm-drain project unfold, it’s exciting to finally see everything coming together. The yard already looks so much better, and it really makes the whole project feel like it’s almost finished.

Now there’s just one last step—the concrete for the driveway. I can’t believe we’re finally at the end of this project! It’s definitely been an experience, and I’ve learned a lot about storm drainage along the way. I’m just looking forward to seeing everything completely finished and getting our house and yard back to normal.

Mohawk, aka Moe, got to come visit me today, and of course, seeing him always makes my day! Moe is a juvenile Wood Stork, and you can tell he’s still young by the feathering around his head. Today, I found him standing in the water right next to the house, just doing what Moe does and enjoying his little spot.

There’s something so special about seeing him become a regular visitor. I’ve gotten to know his personality, and he has definitely become one of my favorite Wood Storks. I love watching the birds around my house because each one seems to have its own personality. You just never know who is going to stop by for a visit—or where they’ll be standing when you look outside!

I honestly never take these visits for granted. Living in Southwest Florida, I feel so lucky to have nature right outside my door. Whether it’s Moe standing in the water, an egret stopping by, or black vultures passing through, there is always something interesting happening. These unexpected little moments are some of my favorite parts of the day, and today, Moe was the star of the show!

Celebrities used to have some mystery to them

You saw them in movies, on album covers and in magazine interviews. You didn’t know what they ate for breakfast, how they worked out or who they were sleeping with

Now every meal, workout, vacation, breakup and bad day can become content

Social media made celebrities more accessible

I’m not sure it made them more interesting......

One thing streaming quietly killed was all the extra stuff that came with a movie

DVDs gave you deleted scenes, bloopers, director commentary, behind-the-scenes footage and sometimes a whole second disc full of extras

Now I can pull up almost any movie in seconds and most of the time I just get the movie

We gained convenience

But I think we lost part of the fun of actually owning one

I was worried about this little guy …. I didn’t want him to stay behind with a hurt paw.. ain’t no way he would have enjoyed these northern winters.

They let him heal instead of rushing the clock…. And,
I just got word he made it out with the flock.
Heading south with the rest of them. I’m so happy about this !

In 1973, while they were making Live and Let Die in Jamaica, they came across a crocodile farm owned by Ross Kananga. The producers liked his name so much they ended up using it for the villain, Dr. Kananga.

James Bond needed to escape by running across the backs of live crocodiles, and Kananga told them he could do it. Roger Moore wasn’t doing that stunt, so the guy you actually see running across those crocodiles is Kananga himself.

It took five attempts to get the shot they wanted, and on one of those tries a crocodile snapped at his heel and tore part of his shoe off.

The scene only lasted a few seconds, but what a difference it made. That’s one of those shots you will always remember.

Adam West was born 98 years ago today.

And I still have a question about Batman.

Were these people actually trying to be serious?🤣😭💀

ABC premiered Batman on January 12, 1966, with Adam West as Batman and Burt Ward as Robin. William Dozier and Howie Horwitz produced the series, and for the first two seasons ABC actually gave us Batman twice a week. Wednesday usually left Batman and Robin in some ridiculous death trap and Thursday we came back to see how they got out of it.

It ran for three seasons and 120 episodes and became an immediate hit.

Now think about what we were watching.

Batman and Robin slid down Batpoles into the Batcave. Commissioner Gordon had a bright red Batphone. Every villain had some elaborate plan that required capturing Batman instead of just getting rid of him. Fights had POW! BIFF! and ZAP! flying across the screen.

And Adam West stood there in gray tights, a blue cape and a mask with eyebrows painted on it delivering every line like the entire future of Gotham City depended on him.

That's what made it so good.

The adults could see how absurd the whole thing was. Kids just saw Batman and Robin fighting the Joker, Penguin, Riddler and Catwoman.

Somehow it worked for everybody.

Batman only lasted from 1966 to 1968, but more than half a century later people still know that Batmobile, that theme song and Adam West's Batman the second they see him.

Happy birthday to Adam West.
