Good move on the part of @Gha_Immigration but for the past years,this matter has been recurring and in a progressive rate. Every year, the number of beggars trooping into the country keeps increasing. It makes me wonder if those stationed at our boarders are involved.

The Ghana Immigration Service has arrested 1,055 people in an intelligence led anti trafficking operation targeting organised street begging networks in parts of Greater Accra and the Ashanti Region.

The operation, conducted on Saturday, August 29, resulted in the rescue of 662 children, alongside 248 women and 145 men, mainly West African nationals.

GIS says several Ghanaians suspected of acting as local agents for exploitative begging networks were also apprehended. A woman believed to be part of a criminal network trafficking beggars to Ghana was arrested and is in custody at the immigration headquarters.

A man who attempted to harbour some of the beggars in his container has also been arrested. He is also assisting in investigations.
