Three years ago today - on Feb 22, 2016 - prisoners at Regina Provincial C.C. in Saskatchewan, participated in an uprising.
The men armed themselves with brooms, mops, pails and wheels broken off carts and caused an estimated $55k in damage.

Four years ago today, on Feb. 20, 2015, over 2,000 inmates staged an uprising at Willacy County CC in Texas.
They were protesting poor living conditions and a lack of medical services.
The prison was closed soon after, but was reopened by ICE in 2018.

50 immigrants being detained at the Yuba County Jail in Marysville, California are currently on hunger strike.
The strike began Feb 9 and is ongoing.
