Do not let people gaslight you into thinking that duality does not exist. You can be grateful and annoyed. You can want more and be grateful for what you have. You can be angry and frustrated and still be grateful. A lot of religious and spiritual gaslighting out here.
One thing that really worked for Obsession is that it had a fully formed ACT I. Which feels obvious from a writing perspective, but surprisingly is not the norm much these days with high-concept or genre films, which usually start with a flash-forward, an opening kill, or a shocking cold open. It starts quiet and intimate, and really takes its time showing you the characters' baseline before things get freaky.
Just saw Obsession. Best movie I’ve seen in theaters since Sinners. It definitely lived up to the hype. 10/10 performance from Freaky Nikki (Inde Navarette) and amazing story by the Writer and Director Curry Baker
