If your way of defending a film or its filmmaker is to insult those who disagree with you, that says more about your character than it does about the movie. It’s worth striving to be better than that. Start by understanding what an opinion truly is. While art may contain objective elements—technical craftsmanship, narrative structure, and so on—a significant portion of it is deeply subjective.

It’s perfectly okay to have differing opinions; in fact, that’s part of what makes discussing art so fascinating. Respecting those differences, rather than attacking them, is how meaningful conversations about art and creativity can happen.
