That change to the anthem will continue to haunt Tinubu. It was selfish, ill-intentioned, and a display of power on a granular and stupid level. No one, not even his military, sings it.
That’s how much his influence is lacking.
You contacted the parents of a 23 year old seeking their consent to violate their adult child's rights by forcing them to undergo unwanted tests to satisfy your curiosity because you're their employer? I don't think you're sane.
@ayosogunro@SirSeriki Somehow, I have learnt rarely to say or suggest I have any affinity with Nigeria when in South Africa, I guess my accent betrays a European provenance too. I am never mistaken for American, usually British, then mention Manchester and everyone wants to talk football.
One lesson you finally learn about being Nigerian in South Africa is that a xenophobic person can't be pleased. You may wine and dine them, show concern for their issues, and generally be kind to them. But the first chance they get to malign you or your intents, they will. 🤷🏾♂️
@ODUNMADEIT where can I find a catalogue of your work, please? There's nothing on your WhatsApp and the pictures on your Twitter are tough to isolate from your regular tweets. Thank you.
A big thank you to #HeidiBlake for this piece documenting the Empire of Abuse of the #Tate brothers. The wheels of justice turn slowly, but they grind exceedingly fine. One day.
More good news.
Don Anele Munachimso also won gold in Science.
He is the best in world science.
Remember, he is the best in IGCSE Chemistry in Nigeria.
The investment is worth it.
The wait is over.
We have 2 golds: Chimdiebube Onwubiko and Don Anele Munachimso.
We are the best in the world!
Egejurum Onyedikachi’s name was omitted. He should have a gold.
Who decides who gets a voice?
Across Africa, the space for citizens to speak up, protest, and organise is shrinking. Between shifting policies and digital surveillance, the question isn’t just about how we speak; it’s about Who Controls Africa’s Civic Space?
If you care about human rights, activism, and the future of African democracy, you need to be in this room.

@afalli If a person, migrant or not, commits a crime, let the law take its course. Prosecute & punish to the fullest extent of the law. Deport them even.
But to brand an entire tribe or nationality as criminal because of the actions of some & the failure of your justice system? Insane.
@afalli Exactly. I will forever reject the notion that migrants are expected to bow their heads or be grateful for the chance to exist in another country. Asking people to 'surrender' their dignity or uniqueness because they crossed a border is insane. Migration is a human right.
@afalli And it's crucial that we reject this 'gratitude cos you're in someone's country' trope because that's violence by another name. Folks are getting killed and robbed in the name of securing borders. The whole thing is insane, devoid of self-awareness but excellent for politicians.
@afalli He's a hack who's pandering so he gains relevance with his people who typically don't rate him. Justifying the looting, murder, and wanton violence against black Africans for any reason is beyond the pale. Saying "you're a guest" is even worse. I hope Africa never forgets this.
her name is Senator Akpoti Uduaghan.
you never see the media addressing male senators or politicians w their first names.
you will address her properly. Senator Akpoti Uduaghan to you.
Every home a garden when people are getting attacked and killed on their farms. When erosion, flooding or desertification is ravaging homesteads. These people don't see us. They don't.
☕ Monday: Hot Take
The monarchy is looking like a fucking joke.
Somebody has to say it.
First, we’re told the King’s own son can’t get the level of security he believes his wife and children need to safely visit the country where he was born, raised, served in uniform, and represented the Crown.
Now reports say Buckingham Palace has withdrawn the offer for Harry and his family to stay there after a dispute over whether his team responded in time while trying to sort out… the fucking security.
Think about how insane that sounds.
His team was trying to figure out the security before committing to the trip.
And somehow that’s what became the issue.
Who the fuck is running Buckingham Palace?
And before somebody says, “The King doesn’t control security…”
Fine.
Then let’s talk about the people who do.
Where’s the government?
Where’s the Home Secretary?
The UK is now in the lead-up to hosting the Invictus Games next year.
This “One Year to Go” moment should be about the veterans.
It should be about service.
It should be about Britain showing the very best of itself.
Instead…
We’re talking about security.
We’re talking about accommodation.
We’re talking about palace drama.
Again.
Tomorrow there’s an expected court ruling in Prince Harry’s case against the press. Whether you support him or not, that’s another moment likely to put this issue back in the spotlight.
Prince Harry is still a member of the Royal Family, even if he’s no longer a working royal.
So here’s what I don’t understand…
Wouldn’t this be the moment for the Royal institution to rally around one of its own?
Wouldn’t this be the moment to put the veterans first?
Wouldn’t this be the moment to show the world what Britain does better than almost anybody else—service, tradition, and respect for those who have worn the uniform?
Instead, the headlines keep pulling the attention somewhere else.
Whether that’s coincidence or simply the way events have unfolded, the result is the same.
The focus shifts away from the competitors.
Away from the veterans.
Away from Invictus.
And that’s a damn shame.
You can spend all day trying to protect the image of the Crown.
But if protecting the image becomes more important than showing leadership…
Sooner or later, there won’t be much of that image left to protect.
@TexTheLaw@nigeriasbest Doesn't inspire confidence at all. Like, it would be funny if we weren't in the middle of one of the most insecure times we've faced as a country. It's actually scary.
