Learning, setting up and growing our poultry production has been an interesting journey. We're now in business.

We've enjoyed our poultry production learning journey, which started with 50 day old black astrolops and a small incubator last year on 13 September. All these chickens in these images are now from our own incubated eggs.

In our village, this is how information is shared. Each of the 45 households gets this monthly bulletin in print delivered to their doorstep and explained to them. The bulletin serves as a notice for the monthly village assembly. Our village affairs are conducted transparently.

After buying our 1st day-old chicks on 13 September 2024, we have patiently used those to learn while we set up our own system. Now we are receiving eggs daily and chicks galore. Full circle in just over 6 months, plus all the lessons learned.

We've started receiving our 1st chicks. It's been a patient few months of learning, setting up, and patience. We're happy to produce our own chickens in-house.

@MaminiminiObert Depending on size of hole made on lid, you'll need to refill once a week or fortnight. Add mulching to retain the moisture. Area around the plant won't go dry.

Over the past few months we've been buying Chibuku containers by encouraging our community to pick this litter from our shopping centre. Today we repurposed them into drip irrigation for our 100+ 🌳 orchard. This is a sample for our village to emulate sustainable practices.

We believe in slow learning and development which allows us to master how things are done without being overwhelmed. We've finally came round to separating our goats and getting the paddocking system working.
