Old MRT parts are set to get a new lease of life: Some residents will see things like train seats being repurposed as benches in their neighbourhoods. At least 1500 seats, 1400 handrails & hundreds of intercom & led light covers will be upcycled by 2025.

Had the chance to speak to mourners near the Embassy of Japan. Some brought bouquets of flowers, while others presented hand-drawn art work… But everyone carried a heavy heart & deep gratitude.

Just in: The MFA has confirmed that “Mr Rajapaksa has been allowed entry into Singapore on a private visit. He has not asked for asylum and neither has he been granted any asylum. Singapore generally does not grant requests for asylum.”

Passengers of flight SV 788 are exiting now - there’s no sign of Mr Gotabaya but he could’ve been brought elsewhere. Passengers are saying they were dropped off at Terminal 2 first before being ushered onto a train to Terminal 3 (where their bags are).
