https://t.co/KWIdlExxCQ Check our new research! Tracking multiple ice-associated species at once is challenging, leaving major gaps in our understanding of their shared spatial patterns. We tackled this challenge to reveal how Polar bears, Arctic foxes, and seals share the ice.

Mais quand la République islamique massacre des Iraniens, le silence des militants des droits de l'homme est assourdissant…
One of our Churchill foxes has made it on the cover of @JZoology volume 325(2) where our last paper was published. Thanks to Journal of Zoology to promote our beautiful area and its wildlife!

@oaggimenez@Nature Wow, that's next-level wisdom, Olivier! Thank you for sharing this experience. It's very important to not forget that we are not machines, as you said "Science is a human endeavour"!
@SimonTruwant@NobelPrize A bear! Although this f**-up-in-the-head-sexist-contemptible-offensive committee will likely choose to award the prize to the bear if it's a male...
@NobelPrize Then why wasn't SHE awarded the NP??? Why is this stupid sexism still persisting in 2024?! I didn't have much respect for the NP to begin with, but that just made it worse!

Despite a high potential for interference, Churchill Arctic and red foxes coexist quite peacefully, which contrasts with the situation in Fennoscandia.

Saw a polar bear-climate change denier Tweet above average sea ice in Svalbard as if it's good news but issue is that the decline started before 1991 & spring ice melt is >15 days earlier/decade & freeze-up >15 days later/decade. Habitat loss from climate change is the threat.

Plus thanks to @ChloeOutdoor for the nice photo of the fox!
Unplanned little paper (one of my 1,000 Thesis side project ;p ) which we thought was needed! It's a begining.

More than 5 years have passed since this paper was published. Exposing how climate change deniers worked to confuse the public about polar bears & sea ice loss was a relief. Media no longer asks about the denier nonsense during interviews.

Packing up field gear after a successful field season is always a time of reflection. I could ponder the tracks of this polar bear for a long time & come up with dozens of questions. 40 years studying them already & it's nowhere near enough.
Polar bears are big. This adult male was 1st caught as a 10 month old cub in 2004. Next to him for scale is our pilot Sean Headland: he's new to polar bear research & new to Canada. Our Australian-Canadian pilot is a major asset to our team: he just needs to get used to the cold.
