@theisabelb The Catholic Church is one of the most confusing and inconsistent denominations. What their doctrine is often depends on where you go and white time period you’re in.
@Thymeles24@Ally_Sammarco@MrsErikaKirk@nytimes I never said the majority shouldn’t have kids and what I’m referring to is not extreme. It’s more common than you think. My point is it’s not inherently selfish to stay childless and not inherently noble to have children. One life is not objectively better for everyone to have.
@Thymeles24@Ally_Sammarco@MrsErikaKirk@nytimes It’s not just Hollywood. Go watch any police show and see how many people casually have children and don’t care for them cause it’s selfish. You need to be unselfish before having children, having them does not magically make people unselfish. What do I not understand?
@technomess@Ally_Sammarco@MrsErikaKirk@nytimes Why in the world do you just assume people are staying single because of transient political fads? That is an incredibly insulting thing to say to a single person (of which I am one). I know you probably didn’t mean to be insulting but that’s how it would be taken.
@Thymeles24@Ally_Sammarco@MrsErikaKirk@nytimes No it doesn’t. Ask someone like Florence nightingale if she didn’t live a life of service. Conversely how many selfish people have children to fulfill their own narcissistic desire to carry on their name and don’t parent their kids properly. You can choose to selfish either way.
@williamnyy23@Ally_Sammarco@MrsErikaKirk@nytimes So cause I decide that I am better off single I am know a degenerate drain on society? The problem isn’t someone being single it’s people being irresponsible. You are barking up the wrong tree completely.
@ksusze@MrsErikaKirk@MZHemingway@nytimes Cause having a family is not always the best path for everyone. Glad you’re fulfilled raising family but it’s not for me and a lot of others.
@MrsErikaKirk@nytimes If this is how you view your career then you must just view it as a means to an end. If you do something you love your career can be just as meaningful as raising a family. Not everyone is fortunate enough to do either, but they are both paths to great lives.
