@SJosephBurns Yes, if you have the mindset of becoming a consistent profitable trader, you will understand the importance of staying on the sideline instead of chasing every sub-optimal set up
@prrobbins Personal opinion, trade consistently everyday, the big opportunity will come to us more often, and that's where our wealth builds up in a sustainable way.
@SixSigmaCapital Market is like a mirror to every trader, like letting us know what we will do when seeing an opportunity slipped infront of us, how to handle consecutives losses, how we bounce back up from it, and many more.
@TradesByAnand Good sharing. For the inside bar consolidation period, do you set a rule like the inside bar consolidation must have at least how many candles (making sure the accumulated momentum is sufficient) or must not have more than how many candles (the momentum might die off)?
@Babypips Good initial entry plan is just half done. The challenging half requires us to be flexible with the market condition (i.e. external news, sudden geopolitical issue etc), and never argue with the market just to prove that we are right.
US Dollar Index (USDX) held the key support zone last week!
As per last Sunday sharing, this week (19 - 23 Oct) USDX retracing to the important support zone (around 101.5 ~ 101.6 range).
From 4H timeframe perspective (refer chart attached), it tested the zone 4 times and all candles ended with long lower wick (indicating strong support). On Friday, the EMA10 is about to cross up EMA20 and the day ended with a green daily candle that almost engulfing the earlier day range.
If this support holds into next week, the potential trade idea:
Long: USDJPY and USDCAD (both printed strong lower wicks on Friday)
Short: EURUSD (daily chart had 3 red candles and with lower high lower low pattern formed)
** Note: upcoming week will have FED interest rate announcement, that will definitely change the movement of USDX regardless of how strong the price action show.
@NorthStarJournl@TheH0n3stTrader Yes agree with you. What I meant is, the willingness to work extra hard while others might be enjoying their life. The more efforts you put in at the beginning, the more time you could have eventually should you make it.
@fredtrades It depends if the profit is coming from the result of our consistent strategy or one off big luck gain. If it is more on luck, better to sharpen our saw before any bold move.
@steenbab@gfc4@jackschwager Hello Dr. Steenbarger, just wondering how will you make yourselves always stay outside of the comfort zone, especially if you feel like everything working fine at the present time? I agree much that without the feeling of being challenge, it seems we will just repeat the routine.
The hardest pill to swallow in trading: You can do everything 100% right and still lose the trade. 💊📉
In engineering or a 9-to-5 job, following the exact steps guarantees the exact result.
In trading, following your exact plan only gives you a statistical edge—often a win rate of just 50% or even less—never a guarantee on the next trade.
When you refuse to accept that a textbook setup can still end in a red outcome:
• You hesitate on the next valid setup.
• You move your stop-loss out of fear.
• You hop from strategy to strategy every week.
Accept the risk before you click BUY or SELL.
Once the trade is live, the outcome belongs to the market—your only job is execution. 🛡️
@yan_tradesnq I think that happen a lot to newer trader where they feel more confident when seeing more evidence supporting their view. There is a saying, the more years you trade, the cleaner your chart is.
@TheH0n3stTrader I normally use trading view for trend analysis, back testing strategy, then use the prop firm platform to enter the trade, so far not much issue. Mind to share your thinking?
@marketscoach@RedDogT3 This is true especially if the trader is watching every candle moving live in the market. The emotion will be like roller coaster and keep finding thousands evidence to support the new stop loss
@prrobbins Failed? Find the possible solution, try again.
Failed? Find the possible solution, try again.
Repeat the cycle despite having non profitable year.
@FundYourFX Be firm on own strategy, and don't be affected by the market sentiment -- especially everyone is asking if the bear market is coming, sharing evidence of stocks big falling, etc.
@martinfxtrade For trading, it will be a good starting step even just try to trade with demo account for maybe 20-30 mins a day (maybe can focus on the session opening time). Slowly you will build up the foundation.
Be honest: How many times have you tried to catch a falling knife just to prove you could snipe the exact bottom? 🔪📉
We’ve all done it.
Price is dropping down strongly, and instead of respecting the momentum, our brain whispers: "It's way too oversold, I'm going to buy the exact bottom!"
Stop #1 hit.
Stop #2 hit.
Stop #3 hit.
The market doesn't pay you to be a hero who steps in front of a free-fall. It pays you to wait until the selling pressure actually dries up and structure shifts bullish.
Let's share the experience if you learned the hard way never to catch a falling knife! 👇
