DMT Shows Promise in Protecting the Brain After Stroke
Scientists have found that DMT, a naturally occurring psychoactive compound, may help protect the brain after stroke.
In animal and cell models, DMT treatment reduced brain infarct size, swelling, and inflammation while repairing the blood-brain barrier.
It also improved the function of astroglial cells and reduced immune cell overactivation through Sigma-1 receptors.
These dual actions suggest DMT could complement current therapies, which often fail to ensure full recovery.
With clinical trials already underway, DMT may soon expand options for stroke patients.
I just donated to help someone who lost everything in the recent floods. It's tough to see a person go through this. If you can, please help or share. Every bit counts. Thank you. https://t.co/2tXvggp3xP
