🧵 Simon Chimbetu — the maestro Zimbabwe turned its back on
1/ He gave Zimbabwe Dendera — a low-pitched, hornbill-deep soundtrack of love, loss, and liberation.
He sang in Shona.
In Chewa.
In Swahili.
He was revolutionary.
Irresistible.
Unforgettable.
But in the end, Zimbabwe walked away.

FROM INBOX | would like this story to understand whether a police officer is legally allowed to take control of a person's vehicle and what legal options are available to families who have lost their loved ones in such incidents.
This Nissan AD Van operating between Banket and Chinhoyi was stopped by a ZRP officer. The officer instructed the driver to surrender control of the vehicle, saying that he would drive it to drop off passengers in town before proceeding to Chinhoyi Central Police Station. The driver reportedly refused and insisted that he should remain in control of his own vehicle.
However, the driver was forcibly removed from the driver's seat and the police officer took over driving the vehicle. Shortly after driving off, the Nissan AD Van was involved in a head-on collision with a kombi that was overtaking another vehicle.
Several passengers from both the Nissan AD Van and the kombi died at the scene, including the Nissan AD Van driver, identified as Willy.
Meanwhile, the ZRP has since confirmed the fatal road traffic accident, which occurred on the afternoon of 16 July 2026 at the 110-kilometre peg along the Harare–Chirundu Road near the Chinhoyi Provincial Heroes Acre.
According to the ZRP, six people were killed in the accident, while the number of injured victims is still being established. More details are expected to be released in due course.
The ZRP promised to release further details in due course.

For a few minutes on a mountain, three disciples saw Jesus as He actually is.
Not the carpenter. Not the traveling teacher.
His face shining like the sun. His clothes blinding white. Moses and Elijah standing beside Him. The voice of God speaking from a cloud.
It's one of the most breathtaking scenes in the Gospels and one of the most overlooked.
Here's what actually happened, and what it means. 🧵
🔸We used to be a society yairambidzwa kunhonga mari muroad, kudya chikafu kudzimba dzevanhu, kupihwa zvinhu zvevamwe kuchikoro - the list goes on. What has happened to us? When did we become this freeloading, prideless and begging people? What happened to the good old Zimbabwean mantra of “sweet comes from sweat”? What on earth have we become? It’s despicable.
We need new leaders.🇿🇼
The is the much talked about ZUVA judgment. It was a case brought by two employees. It was not argued by Nelson Chamisa. The question of who the owner of shares in ZUVA was, was not canvassed, never an issue and has remained unknown to me as counsel. Try another one and leave my brother from Gutu out of this.
Trivia: NC was at this stage my pupil. Don’t let that confuse you. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
On 24 November 2001, six Zimbabwe National Army soldiers attacked 23-year-old University of Zimbabwe student Lameck Chemvura aboard a passenger train travelling from Harare to Mutare, accusing him of supporting the MDC.
They closed in around Chemvura, trapping him inside the crowded railway carriage before unleashing a relentless barrage of punches and booted kicks while petrified passengers looked on helplessly.
The assault continued through the coach until one of the soldiers seized Chemvura by the throat, forced him onto the floor and strangled him while pinning his body beneath his weight.
By the time the soldier loosened his grip, Chemvura was dead.
They then lifted his body, dragged it to the train door and threw it onto the railway tracks near Nyazura.
The 23-year-old had boarded as a promising university student.
He returned to his family in a coffin.
ZANU-PF's soldiers murdered Lameck Chemvura.
This Paraguayan senator was so racist to Mbappe that it was condemned by her own government. He called her a “despicable woman and unworthy” of her position.
She’s now demanding an apology from Mbappe for “gender-based violence” even though she did not apologize to him
"There were many missed opportunities for South Africa to use its regional muscle to force Zanu-PF towards a path beneficial to Zimbabweans and South Africa. Now the crisis in Zimbabwe has spilled into South Africa, whose citizens are no longer willing to bear the pain."~Freeman Chari

Abigail Chiroto's murder became another symbol of Zimbabwe's culture of impunity. Despite the brutality of the crime, eighteen years later no one has ever been convicted, sending the message that ZANU-PF leaders, perpetrators and enforcers remain above the law.
