Emily Chan and Spencer Akira Howe 🇺🇸 performed an elegant and soulful interpretation to Ci Saro by Andrea Bocelli.

Spencer: We were really happy with just our energy out there. And even, you know, it's actually really crazy to see the progress that can be made just in like, a couple week turnaround from our last free skate that we competed back in China. And so it's super motivating. Obviously, we're, you know, capable of a lot higher scores, and we've done that in the past, but, I mean, it's just a huge step for us. And, you know, we're taking it humbly, and we want to keep working, and we're getting just more and more motivated out here.
Emily: We really felt like we were able to connect and be free in that free skate program, which is the goal that we had set yesterday, to really open up and to kind of be free in our movements, and definitely make an improvement from our last competition, which we had kind of some struggles with training. But, really I feel like we took a big step in this free skate considering the short time, and so now we're looking to also go back and work hard. We have another short turnaround for our next Grand Prix. So, really happy to make those big steps in the meantime.

Emily: I feel like Spencer and I really felt the music and connected with the audience like we wanted to, especially for the beginning of the season. Of course, we're not looking for perfection at this point, but like each time we go out, we want to really push ourselves to get more out of each each showing. So I felt like today, we really did that compared to the last time we went out, which was a short, short turnover.
Spencer: I think that there's a lot of mixed feelings (about coming back from last season). I feel like we definitely took some big steps backwards, and that was obviously just due to various circumstances. One of the biggest things being me missing most of last season because of the injury, and so I feel like a little bit like, we're kind of like in the underdog position, just like trying to pull our way back up, but within that, it teaches us valuable lessons. And so like I said, you know, just just reflecting on this competition compared to the last, it just shows that, like, yeah, we have some work to do, but we're committed and we want to put in the work.
