Speed increases both the risk and severity of a crash. Under DMV’s FAST pilot program, CHP citations for speeds over 100 mph are automatically referred to DMV for review and possible action against the driver’s license.

Multi-Agency Kidnapping Recovery: CHP Los Banos, working with LAPD, Fresno County Sheriff’s Office and Los Banos PD safely recovered a 3-year-old child abducted in a parental kidnapping. The suspect was arrested without incident. CHP remains committed to protecting children.

We are saddened by the passing of retired CHP Deputy Commissioner Gerald “Jerry” Clemons. A U.S. Navy veteran, his visionary leadership helped shape today’s CHP through programs and reforms that continue to protect and serve Californians. Our deepest condolences to his family.

During a traffic stop on July 4th, CHP saw two dogs running in traffic on Highway 1 with no owners in sight. The dogs were safely rescued and taken to the animal shelter in Fort Bragg, where they were cared for until they were reunited with their owners.
