At ~9:40 A.M., a commercial truck on SR-197 near MP 0.8 had a mechanical failure, spilling ~50 gallons of diesel. Crews have contained the spill and cleanup is underway. One-way traffic control in place. Expect delays.

Location: US-101 near Mile Post Marker 15.5 (Last Chance Grade).

California Highway Patrol Officers are currently on scene with a traffic crash. Both lanes are blocked. Please proceed with caution and expect delays.

Traffic Update- 01/05/2025 @ 2:20 pm (US-199/Collier Tunnel)

Roadways are currently clear. Snow remains along the shoulders of the highway, but travel lanes are open. Thank you to Caltrans for their continued work keeping the roadway safe.

Please continue to drive with caution.

Snow is currently falling and accumulating on US-199 near the Collier Tunnel.
Caltrans crews are working to keep the roadway clear, but conditions remain hazardous. conditions if you must travel through the area.

12/21/25 @ 5:55 p.m. - US-199 at MPM 18.3 has been cleared. Traffic may proceed but please use caution. Rain is expected to continue-slow down and drive safely. Thank you to Caltrans and all emergency personnel.

Traffic Advisory: US-199 MPM 8.5

Expect intermittent closures with delays up to 20 minutes as crews recover a "Frito Lay" box truck involved in yesterday's crash.

Please use caution in the area and plan extra travel time. Thank you for your patience.

Road Closure Alert-July 15, 2025
- U.S.-199 will be closed between Elk Valley Cross Rd. and the 197/199 junction in Del Norte Co. on Tues, July 15th (9:00a.m.- 4:00p.m.) Use SR-197 as a detour.

Expect 15-min. delays the week of July 14th due to ongoing work.
