CHP Coalinga responded to a reported crash on SR-198 west of I-5. Officers determined there was no collision, but during the investigation observed signs of impairment. The driver provided PAS results of 0.484% and 0.496% BAC, was arrested for DUI, and taken to the hospital.

CHP Coalinga officers, along with EMS and fire personnel, are currently on scene of a major injury traffic collision near El Dorado Road.
On June 16, CHP Coalinga officers stopped a 2012 Hyundai Elantra on I-5 in Fresno County for several vehicle code violations. During a consent search, officers located six kilogram-sized packages that tested positive for cocaine. Estimated street value: $600,000.

CHP Coalinga officers arrested a driver on I-5 after locating approximately 4 kilograms of suspected fentanyl and a loaded Glock 23 during an enforcement stop through Kings and Fresno County.
The suspected fentanyl was turned over to Fresno HIIT. Estimated street value: $400,000

On 4/28/26, CHP Coalinga stopped a vehicle on I-5 in Fresno County for a violation. A search led to the discovery of ~5 kg of suspected fentanyl concealed in the vehicle.
Driver arrested and booked on narcotics charges.

π Reckless Driving Crash on I-5
CHP responded to a reckless driver on SB I-5. The vehicle was stolen out of Las Vegas.
Before a stop, the driver lost control and overturned south of Derrick Ave. Driver in custody with injuries. Passenger ejected and pronounced deceased.

3/24/26 β A CHP Coalinga officer stopped a Chevrolet Traverse on I-5 in Kings County. A search revealed ~10 lbs of suspected meth, a Beretta 9mm pistol, and a modified short-barreled AR-rifle.

On 3/10/26, CHP Coalinga officers conducted a traffic stop that led to a coordinated response after a suspect fled onto NB I-5. Witnesses later directed officers to a concealed package containing approx. 4 kilos of suspected fentanyl.
π¨ Yesterday, CHP Coalinga officers responded to a solo vehicle crash after a driver veered off the roadway. The front passenger was not wearing a seatbelt, and three juveniles were not properly restrained. Fortunately, no life threatening injuries were reported.
