Officers responded to a solo-vehicle traffic collision on Hill Rd. at Eel River Ranch Rd. near Covelo after a bridge completely collapsed while a vehicle was crossing it. The driver sustained only minor injuries. Motorists are asked to avoid the area and seek alternate routes.
At approximately 11:00 a.m. today, CHP officers responded to a non-injury single-vehicle traffic collision on SR-162 near MPM 21.
Due to the collision, one-way traffic control was implemented while emergency personnel worked to safely manage the scene and clear the roadway.
The CHP will be conducting a Holiday Enforcement Period beginning Friday, May 22, at 6:00 p.m. and continuing through Monday, May 25, at 11:59 p.m.
CHP officers will be on patrol throughout Mendocino County, focusing on violations to help keep our roadways safe for everyone.

Last night, CHP officers conducted a DUI arrest near the courthouse in Ukiah after contacting a driver showing signs of impairment. Driving under the influence endangers everyone on the roadway. Make responsible choices and help keep Mendocino County roads safe.

Beginning tomorrow, 4/27/26, at 6:00 AM, officers will be conducting a (MEP) focused on speeding violations. This enforcement effort will continue through 5:59 AM on 4/29/26
Speed remains one of the leading factors in serious and fatal crashes.

Today, motorists traveling on US-101 just south of Hopland can expect delays due to ongoing construction work on the Green Bridge. Crews will be working throughout the day, and traffic control measures may be in place, including reduced speeds and possible lane restrictions.

State Route 1 is currently closed north of Point Cabrillo Drive due to a three-vehicle traffic collision. Emergency personnel are on scene working to assist those involved and clear the roadway.
At this time, it is unknown when the roadway will reopen.

This morning, a driver attempted to cross SR-175 just east of US-101 and became stuck (see photo). Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
