@kevinbonham Also, the blog overstates WMet: SDA didn’t put “Labor last except for ... Greens and Liberals” as a clean bloc. It put Moira Deeming #15, Labor #48-52 and the other Libs #59-62 - Labor above 4/5 Libs, not the whole Liberal ticket.
@kevinbonham Your article doesn’t show a Hansard error; it debunks a different claim, that SDA was a Labor front/that its prefs reached Labor. The line was about GVT direction. Your post itself notes NVic T1 put Labor above Coalition, SEM T1 above most Libs, and WVic Labor #7.
@kevinbonham And 90% isn’t fanciful where aligned HTVs are actively handed out: in 2019 Vic, Liberal prefs flowed 89.49% to Coalition candidates and Nationals prefs 88.71%. In Dunkley, DHJP HTVs/personnel pointed the other way, and the DHJP flow was 62.6% Labor.
@kevinbonham That treats “primarily” as “DHJP alone”. The point was the decisive non-Green preference intervention. Greens were always going to Labor; the contestable HTV-directed pool was DHJP/AJP. DHJP actively handed out and flowed 62.6% ALP; AJP 69.4%. That mattered.
@kevinbonham No conflation. GVTs, HTVs and voters’ own preference choices are different things. The point was that Victoria has seen preference gaming in different forms: GVT deals in the upper house, and party HTV/preference strategies under CPV in lower-house contests.
@kevinbonham The Hansard line was about GVTs directing preferences, not the final count. SDA’s NVic Ticket 1 put Labor 35–39 ahead of Lib/Nats 46–50; SEM Ticket 1 put Labor ahead of 4/5 Libs; WVic ranked a Labor candidate #7. A claim wasn't made that the prefs reached Labor or elected anyone.
**Victoria’s Gangsta’s Paradise**
This is the largest corruption scandal in Victoria’s history under this Allan Labor Government. $15 Billion of your hard earned money, effectively stolen through crime, corruption, and sheer waste.
It's so bad that every Party and Member, other than Labor – including Liberals, Nationals, One Nation, Libertarians, Greens, Legalise Cannabis, Animal Justice, Shooters, Fishers & Farmers, and Independent – supported our successful motion last night calling for the Government to establish a Royal Commission.
The Labor Government must take responsibility, and take action. Yet the Premier is refusing to even answer legitimate questions from respected journalists.
And IBAC, our anti-corruption watchdog, must be given the powers it needs to investigate. Victorians deserve to know where their money has gone, and that everything possible is being done to get it back.
That's why an elected Liberal Nationals Government will give IBAC follow-the-money powers. Our policy will empower IBAC to chase down every cent and hold the right people to account.
Because, at the end of the day, it's your money.
@Rob409270337089 Not sure if this is directed at me or someone else, but I don’t use X much. You can follow me on Facebook or Insta to see some of my activity in the electorate & Parliament.

@RTuncks@RitaPanahi Why's that Rob? Growing up in the country (with both parents from farming backgrounds and grandparents on all sides being farmers), I pursued politics as I'm passionate about creating opportunity, freedom and hope for people no matter their postcode or socio-economic background.
Today Opposition Leader @BradBattinMP announced the Shadow Ministry, Shadow Assistant Ministry and wider roles.
It's an honour to continue as Opposition Whip for the Victorian Liberal Party in the Legislative Assembly, and to have been appointed to the new role of Shadow Assistant Minister for Housing and Rental Affordability.
Housing and homelessness are issues I've been passionate about tackling for years.
In Victoria, we have a housing and homelessness crisis.
The waitlist for public housing is more than 61,000.
We have a lack of new housing and rentals in the market, particularly with ever-increasing land tax and other costs. Less supply means higher rents, making it harder and harder for Victorians to secure stable housing.
Support services also need more resources to help people in need, such as Frankston Brekky Club that I worked to get up-and-running again a few years ago, and organisations like Mornington Community Support Centre.
See what I had to say on the housing and homelessness crisis recently in Parliament: https://t.co/cipI94NhTL
I look forward to working together with Mr Battin, my neighbouring MP and now Deputy Leader @SamGrothMP , the Coalition leadership team, Shadow Housing Minister @r_riordanmp , my fellow Liberal and National Coalition MPs, Victorians and local constituents to tackle these important issues.
Two years in. Two years to go.
I recently spoke about the current state of play in Victoria, after 10 years in a row - and 21 out of 25 years - of a Labor Government.
Hear what I had to say, particularly about why we need a change of government. 👉

G’day @winning121212 I agree the Australian flag should be displayed. But I’m a State MP, and this is from a different level of government, being local council (so I can’t directly address it). You could write directly to Morn Pen Shire at [email protected] or otherwise feel free to email me your details to [email protected] and I can do this for you. Your might also consider writing to your local councillor for the ward where you live.
SmackTalk - Donate here https://t.co/DXeLhITHj7
From midnight, I'm joining the Unplug24 challenge in support of SmackTalk. I'll be off all social media platforms for 24 hours on 24 October: no posts, no comments, no replies, no likes, no social media.
Unplug24 is being run to raise awareness and funds for SmackTalk charity, a movement set up to help prevent sexual extortion and suicide.
SmackTalk is creating a legacy for 17-year-old Mac Holdsworth, who took his own life on 24 October last year after being sexually extorted. Mac is the son of Frankston Basketball - FDBA CEO Wayne Holdsworth.
I'd love you to show your support for SmackTalk - you can click the DONATE link above to do that.
Even if you don't think you are in a position to fundraise yourself, it would also be great if you could sign up and stay off social media with me during Unplug24 to show your support for this important cause:
"Three months after his son Mac, 17, took his own life after being sexually extorted, Wayne Holdsworth decided to ensure other families didn’t go through the pain his family was suffering. He set up SmackTalk charity, a movement to stop sextortion and help prevent suicide. Please help us save lives."
There are times in politics, and life, that one has to have the moral courage to do the right thing, regardless of political considerations or self-interest.
That’s why Parliament needs to support the upcoming motion to recognise the genocide of Greeks, Armenians and Assyrians.
While this occurred 110 years ago, approximately 1.5 million Armenians, 300,000 Assyrians, and between 350,000-500,000 Greeks were dehumanised and killed by the then Ottoman Empire at the time.
It is critical to acknowledge the wrongs of the past - much as nations like Germany and Australia have done and need to continue doing - to honour the victims, survivors and their descendants, and to ensure that it never happens again.
At the same time, we must support all our fellow citizens and recognise that acknowledgement of the past does not - and should not - reflect negatively on any current person or people going about their lives, whether they be of Turkish, Greek, Armenian, Assyrian or any other ethnicity or descent, as we work together for a harmonious future where every human being and life is valued.
This is absolutely disgraceful by PM @AlboMP - he should apologise to all with Tourette Syndrome @TSAAustralia@TS_Assoc_Aus@Anne_Ruston - see my speech on Tourette Syndrome here: https://t.co/vPI9TWlg3W
Mocking a disability is no laughing matter.
This is absolutely despicable behaviour from @AlboMP.
The Prime Minister must immediately apologise to the entire Tourette’s community.
Australians living with Tourette’s deserve the PM’s respect, not his ridicule.
