@ronmanagernottm Enjoyed watching Paddington TV show as a kid in the 1970s but detest the more recent film franchise - load of upper-middle-class little Englander bollocks
@reece_dinsdale Oakeshott was also appalled at Starmer receiving some support for clothing and tickets for Arsenal games, Taylor Swift gig etc, which amounted to a few thousand, and was declared. But a £5m undeclared bung to Farage from crypto billionaire and it’s “nothing to see here” 🤡
@FraserNelson Respectfully, he might argue that the ‘national good’ - which will also benefit the constituents of Makerfield, outweighs what is good for Manchester in the current climate?
@jonsopel …if Burnham triggers and wins a leadership contest he’ll no doubt be immediately vilified by much of the media - no doubt they’ll have some dirt on him ready to print. Meanwhile, a £5m bung to Farage doesn’t gain much traction/publicity.
@jonsopel Starmer put in the ‘hard yards’ and helped bring the party back after the Corbyn years - he deserves a lot of credit for that. Sadly, due to right wing press and some very poor decisions/lack of political nous, much of the electorate has given up on him.
@JohnBeckerEA@piersmorgan Starmer and his wife received relatively modest gifts/support from Lord Alli, which he declared. Reform cry it’s a scandal. Farage receives £5m, which he doesn’t declare. Reform: Nothing to see here… Not even a whiff of hypocrisy, @JohnBeckerEA ?
@JohnBeckerEA@piersmorgan I don’t know, but if obtained illegally then I’m sure Farage or Reform have the means to sue the Guardian. But do you honestly think the £5 million “personal gift” from a crypto billionaire was made with no expectation of anything in return?
@RichardBurgon Well done, Richard, give him hell…oh, wait - he’s on your side! You may not like Starmer and some of his cabinet, but they’re the reason Labour are in power. I expect you’ll be looking forward to seeing Farage take over at the next GE so you can get back into opposition 🤡
