As to the far more important issue of tractors on the track, Gasly may have been going too fast and if he was the FIA can penalise him for that.

BUT speeding was not the cause of the life threatening situation. That was the stewards decision to put a tractor on the track.

Some further thoughts on this. It's remarkable that neither broadcasters nor (apparently) the teams had a good idea of what would happen if the race finished when time ran out.

Back to the Sporting Regulations for the #Formula1 World Championship title decider once again.

Reduced points available where race is suspended and "cannot be resumed". As this race was resumed and did finish, full points awarded. 1/2

That doesn't however mean that the rules are unclear. Rule 6.5 clearly doesn't apply. We therefore revert to the standard position under 6.4 (full points).

That seems a fair outcome to this race (and this Championship) where we nudged up to around half race distance. Would feel decidedly hollow if only a handful of laps had been completed. 2/2
