I’m all for BPA in most cases but this would be horrible. If Cowboys go WR at 12 that means Pickens isn’t staying long-term and that’s just bad business.
Osa is a great pass rusher and I don’t love that he’s going to the 49ers… but I’m curious if there’s a bigger picture here that could change the perspective of this trade.
.@TomPelissero said on NFL Network that the Dallas Cowboys would still be interested in trading for Maxx Crosby:
"There are teams that are going to be interested still in a Maxx Crosby trade, but there are a lot of things that they need to get answers on. Starting with the medical."
"I would specifically say, the other team that was in it at the end as we reported is the Dallas Cowboys. I am told the Dallas Cowboys would still be interested in a Maxx Crosby trade."
No signings are official until tomorrow, so with Maxx Crosby back on the Raiders, there are players who agreed to sign with the Raiders — and they spent A LOT in free agency — where we have no clue how this all unfolds.
Crosby's contract is back on the Vegas books.
The Green Bay Packers have a combined $52 million of dead money from the owed tabs of Kenny Clark and Rashan Gary.
But don't be too hard on them. They can tell the difference when a player is past his prime and when he's still got something left in the tank.
Sources: The #Saints are signing former #Falcons LB Kaden Eliss to a 3-year, $33M deal.
Eliss, who hasn’t missed a game since 2021, has recorded three straight 100-tackle seasons. He added 3.5 sacks and 6 passes defensed last season as well.
For the insatiable Cowboys fans asking what’s next?
“Not a lot going on” per a team source.
BUT I did ask if they are at least poking around on CB Tariq Woolen. Sounds like it’s more evaluating, discussing right now but he’s on their list of due diligence.
As I reported yesterday, they felt good about their offer to Nakobe Dean and seems his side appreciated it too. “Similar to Las Vegas” and another told me it was “slightly higher” but that was a Dean decision that he struggled with. He ultimately chose comfort and familiarity w locker room.
As for Queen, didn’t feel unanimous in the building and therefore the team isn’t interested in reaching to fill a position of need.
The point is they will spend if the player makes sense/cents for them.
They seem to be putting a premium on familiarity with scheme, versatility and ready now.
I do think Trey Hendrickson is something they are watching but injury concern and over evaluation of value is factor here. Like other teams, seems they just want to monitor where that market goes but yesterday another source told me they liked what they did with Rashan Gary and weren’t gonna double down on a high dollar edge.
I can tell you the Cowboys were still talking to Lloyd when I checked in at 7:30 tonight but there was a sense his price was gonna be a little high for them.
Patrick Queen still one I’m watching
Sources: The #Cowboys are re-signing DE Sam Williams to a one year deal worth $3M.
The former 2nd-round pick has 9.5 sacks, 22 TFLs and 4 forced fumbles during his tenure in Dallas so far.
