On This Day — July 29, 1944

Golda Meir begged the Allies to bomb Auschwitz.

Trains were arriving daily with 12,000 Jews marked for immediate murder. She cabled the Histadrut's representative in the United States, Israel Mereminski: urge the Allies to destroy the rail lines leading to the camp, the gas chambers, and the crematoria.

Mereminski took the request to the War Refugee Board. The Board passed it to “competent authorities” in the War Department.

Nothing was done.

That same summer, Allied bombers were already striking industrial targets just a few miles from Auschwitz. Former U.S. Senator George McGovern, who flew those missions, later stated plainly that the rail lines and the crematoria could have been hit.

Between 70,000 and 80,000 Hungarian Jews were being deported to Auschwitz every single week. Destroying Crematoria II and III would have eliminated most of the camp’s killing capacity at the exact moment the Nazis were least able to rebuild it.

Officials claimed it would divert resources from the war effort.
They claimed it was not feasible.
They even lied and claimed a feasibility study had been conducted (it wasn’t).

They chose not to try.

Hundreds of thousands more Jews were murdered after the cable was sent.
The trains kept rolling.
The silence was the answer.

That era is over.

Today there is a Jewish state with an army, an air force, and the means to defend its people.

Jews no longer have to beg others to save them from annihilation.

We are asking why was an Al Jazeera @AJEnglish cameraman, Ahmed Shah, firing multiple rounds in Gaza last month? It’s a fair question, isn’t it?

Isaiah described the crucifixion in detail 700 years before it happened, and named exactly what it was FOR.

Isaiah 53. Written seven centuries before Christ:

“He was pierced for our transgressions, crushed for our iniquities.” Isaiah 53:5.

“Like a lamb that is led to the slaughter… He opened not His mouth.” Isaiah 53:7. 

“They made His grave with the wicked and with a rich man in His death.” Isaiah 53:9. 

He died between criminals (Luke 23:33) and was buried in the tomb of the rich Joseph of Arimathea (Matthew 27:57-60). 

“The LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.” Isaiah 53:6.

A suffering servant, pierced, silent before His accusers, dying for the sins of others, buried in a rich man’s grave.

This is why the Jewish rabbis struggled, their Scriptures described BOTH a suffering, pierced servant (Isaiah 53) AND a conquering King (Daniel 7). Some concluded there must be two Messiahs.

But it was never two. It’s one Messiah, two comings.

First the Lamb, pierced for our transgressions. 

Then the Lion, returning in glory.

The Quran denied the piercing. Surah 4:157.

Isaiah described it in HD seven hundred years early.

You can’t erase an event that was prophesied in that much detail. The two criminals crucified beside Jesus are the entire gospel in one scene.

Luke 23. Two men. Same crime, same sentence, same cross, same dying breath, the same few feet from Jesus.

One mocks Him. The other turns and says, “Jesus, remember me when You come into Your kingdom.” Luke 23:42.

And Jesus answers: “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in paradise.” Luke 23:43.

That man did zero good works. He couldn’t, his hands were nailed down. No prayers, no fasting, no charity, no time to balance any scale. He had nothing to offer but a dying glance at the right Person.

And Jesus saved him on the spot.

In the religion I came from, that man was doomed. No time, no deeds, game over.

In the gospel, he was in paradise that same day, because salvation was never about the weight of his works.

“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works.” Ephesians 2:8-9.

Two criminals. Same cross. One difference: which one turned to Jesus.

That’s still the only difference that has ever mattered.

As you may know, my Muslim film crew and I were chased out of ‘Palestine’ for simply asking questions and forced to delete footage… or die.

The video that caused the chaos was miraculously recovered. Once they made us shut off the cameras the men told us we shouldn’t be letting a woman speak, and we shouldn’t be asking questions at all. Obviously, not all Palestinians support H@mas, but it’s clear much too many do. Sadly, I couldn’t find any who didn’t love the terrorist group and keep in mind Ramallah is the most moderate part. Even I was shocked at the mass support.

What If Israel Is God's Greatest Proof That He Keeps His Promises?

"I will establish My covenant between Me and you and your offspring after you throughout their generations for an everlasting covenant..." (Genesis 17:7)

If you want to know whether God keeps His Word, don't begin with a theological system. Begin with the God of Abraham.

The story of Israel has never been primarily about Israel. It has always been about the God who makes everlasting covenants.

For centuries, many concluded that Israel's story had ended. Jerusalem was in ruins, the Temple was gone, and the Jewish people were scattered among the nations. To many, God's promises to Abraham appeared impossible, and some concluded they had been transferred elsewhere.

But God...

History did not correct the prophets.

History vindicated them.

God never promised that Israel would always obey. Moses and the prophets repeatedly foretold Israel's rebellion, discipline, exile, and eventual restoration. Israel failed the covenant again and again.

God never failed His covenant.

That is the difference between a covenant grounded in man's performance and one grounded in God's character.

❖ Israel Was Never Forgotten

Many assumed the Jewish people would eventually disappear like every other ancient nation.

But God...

"Yet for all that... I will not reject them... nor destroy them completely, breaking My covenant with them." (Leviticus 26:44-45)

The Egyptians remain, but their empire is gone. Assyria, Babylon, Philistia, and Rome all passed into history. Yet the Jewish people remain, preserving their identity through nearly two thousand years of dispersion because God's covenant endured.

As Arnold Fruchtenbaum has often emphasized, the Abrahamic Covenant is unconditional, everlasting, and guaranteed by God Himself, not by Israel's perfect obedience.

❖ The Prophets Predicted the Order

Many object that today's Israel cannot be the Israel of prophecy because much of the nation remains in unbelief.

But God...

Read Ezekiel carefully.

"I will take you from among the nations and bring you into your own land. Then I will sprinkle clean water on you... I will give you a new heart... I will put My Spirit within you." (Ezekiel 36:24-27)

The order is unmistakable.

First, the regathering.

Then, the cleansing.

Then, the new heart.

Then, the Spirit.

God's restoration begins with His faithfulness, not Israel's merit.

❖ The Evidence Is Written Across History

Against every historical expectation, millions of Jewish people have returned from more than one hundred nations. Hebrew, once largely confined to prayer and scholarship, lives again as the everyday language of Israel. Jerusalem has once again become the focal point of world attention, just as the prophets anticipated.

These are not the foundation of our faith. Scripture is.

But they are remarkable confirmations that the God who spoke through the prophets still governs history.

Then Ezekiel reveals the reason behind it all:

"It is not for your sake... that I am about to act, but for My holy name." (Ezekiel 36:22)

This has never ultimately been about Israel's worthiness.

It has always been about God's glory.

❖ The Covenant Still Stands

Paul asks the question many still ask today:

"Has God rejected His people? By no means!" (Romans 11:1)

He answers with confidence because God's promises have not changed:

"The gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable." (Romans 11:29)

The Church is the Body of Messiah, composed of believing Jews and Gentiles united in Him. Israel remains the nation to whom God made everlasting covenant promises. God has one plan of redemption through one Messiah, yet He does not confuse Israel with the Church or revoke what He swore to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

The survival of Israel has never depended upon the perfection of Israel.

It has always depended upon the perfection of God.

That is why Israel still exists.

Israel is not God's trophy of human faithfulness.

Israel is God's monument to divine faithfulness.

The Lord Himself leaves us with one final witness:

"Thus says the LORD, who gives the sun for light by day and the fixed order of the moon and the stars for light by night... If this fixed order departs from before Me... then shall the offspring of Israel cease from being a nation before Me forever." (Jeremiah 31:35-37)

As long as the sun rises...

As long as the moon shines...

As long as the stars fill the heavens...

God's covenant stands.

Every Jewish family returning to the land, every conversation spoken in revived Hebrew, every fulfilled promise, and every sunrise over Jerusalem proclaims the same unchanging truth:

God keeps His Word.

The Church is the Church.

Israel is still Israel.

Because God is still God.

The Arab Muslim colonization of the Jewish homeland began with invasion.

In 636–638 CE, the armies of Caliph Umar conquered the Land of Israel.

Nearly 55 years later, in 691–692, they built the Dome of the Rock directly on the Temple Mount, the holiest site in Judaism for more than 1,700 years where two Jewish Temples had stood.

The Al-Aqsa Mosque followed around 715 CE.

Then came the systematic degradation of the indigenous Jews.

In 717 CE, crushing taxes drove many Jews off their ancestral land.

In 720 CE, Caliph Umar II banned Jews from worshipping on the Temple Mount entirely.

That ban lasted more than 1,200 years; and, in practice, the ban continues to this day under Muslim control of the site.

Jews were reduced to humiliated dhimmis (second-class “infidels” in their own homeland).

This was not coexistence.

It was Arab colonization followed by attempted Jewish erasure.

The Jews did not “colonize” the Land of Israel.
They are its indigenous people.

Some never left. Others returned in every generation whenever conditions allowed. Political Zionism in the late 19th century was the modern expression of that unbroken connection, culminating in the restoration of Jewish sovereignty.

History does not begin in the 7th century.

Jewish roots in the Land of Israel go back more than 3,000 years.
