Matt Taibbi...what sad, disgraceful downfall. I swear, kids, he did good work back in the day. Should be a cautionary tale for everyone. Selling your soul for the richest white nationalist on Earth. Well, he'll eat well for the rest of his life I guess. But is it worth it?
Thank you KLM-Royal Dutch Airlines for repatriating Brent Renaud back to the U.S. swiftly and free of charge (a $30k cost) and Delta for a hero’s welcome in Atlanta @DozierLudovic@bgeersing@FHouben Boet Kreiken, Regina Datisme, Clarence James @KLMCargo , @KLM@Delta@airfrance
This awareness of emptiness is the “insight that brings us to the other shore,” awakening us to our interdependence and giving rise to boundless compassion. That was Brent’s rare gift; his great understanding. @carolyn_greg @tricyclemag@niemanfdn https://t.co/xKqTC742y2
"There's a lot of disinformation and misinformation being pushed around about Ukraine right now. This is a moment where taking the extra time to verify reporting is even more essential than usual." –@emilyhorne46 https://t.co/5vnopO4Xur
Ukraine gained a complete victory in its case against Russia at the International Court of Justice. The ICJ ordered to immediately stop the invasion. The order is binding under international law. Russia must comply immediately. Ignoring the order will isolate Russia even further
Putin’s barbaric actions murdering Brent Renaud and other innocent civilians are testing not just Ukraine but all of humanity.
Speaking to President @ZelenskyyUa I assured him that we will continue to do all that we can to bring an end to this disastrous conflict.
Journalists take enormous risk when reporting from war zones. Their courageous and heroic work provides the world with the truth essential to freedom and eventual peace. My prayers go to the loved ones of Pierre Zakrzewski & Brent Renaud, and to Benjamin Hall for a full recovery.
It’s time for once and for all acknowledge that fixers are essential workers for western media outlets. Covering conflicts wouldn’t be possible without them. The precarious work conditions and no bylines for them should end ASAP
@ZelenskyyUa Thank you for your kind and sincere letter of condolences. As Brent’s family, we’re touched that you would take the time to share in our grief, even as you lead the Ukrainian people in a fight for their homeland and democracy itself. We stand with you and the people of Ukraine.🇺🇦
