@itvracing Red Rum's era was a jumping test, and there weren't many in contention at the finish. It's a 5f sprint now from the last, and I Am Maximus could find a faster finishing horse this time next year when he'll be 11. The plastic core has helped IAM as he isn't the best of jumpers.
@DizzyJB There's a case for renaming the race. We can't compare past winners to the likes of today's. Shorter distance, drops don't exist, and the core has been plastic since 2013.
@maxcouch So true. There's a case for saying the race wasn't the same after the Becher's Brook modifications (GN from 1990). But there's certainly been a case for renaming it once it became plastic in 2013. Red Rum, L'Escargot, and Golden Miller are turning in their graves.

@JBondPersuader Thunderball. It wouldn't be in the top 3 from Connery's era.
I might be in the minority but I've always thought A View to a Kill isn't as bad as what the general consensus would have you believe.
@GoingBehind@AintreeRaces Cheers. It's pretty poor from Aintree that their own Roll of Honours board isn't factual. Of all places, you'd expect it to be right at the actual racecourse. For some strange reason, they also omitted Mr in front of the amateur Patrick Mullins' name. The tour was very enjoyable.
Hi @GoingBehind, I went on an @AintreeRaces tour over the weekend, and I'm pretty sure I spotted an error on their Roll of Honours board. Am in right in thinking there were 26 runners in the 1960 running mate, not 25?
