The blessed man of Ps. 1 doesn’t walk the path of the wicked for one reason: He has a greater delight in God’s law and on it He meditates day and night. This is how sin is conquered today. Through Christ our hearts say no to lesser pleasures in delightful pursuit of greater ones.
The main difference between truly biblical counsel and secular therapeutic counsel is biblical counsel directs the person to look away from self to change.
We cannot change on our own but as we look to and behold Christ, he begins to change us (2 Corinthians 3:18).
Two important truths from 1 Corinthians 10:13:
1. Your temptations are not unique and common to all.
2. Your temptations can be defeated because God is faithful to provide you a way of escape as you rely on Him.

Psalm 119:130 says, 'The unfolding of your words gives light; it imparts understanding to the simple.' God’s Word sheds light on the world and all that happens here."
