in the “duskfall prelude” preview, valko sounds so enthusiastic when we express interest in learning more about wolves. him mentioning the “puppers,” as well as the setting looking like a grand library, makes me believe that we could be visiting an ancestral home belonging to his clan, perhaps after receiving an invitation from him or asking to visit ourselves because we want to understand his kind better. rather than letting us toil away over a book on our own, he offers to share that knowledge firsthand

i think it means a great deal to him that we’re making the effort to learn about wolves and, by extension, him, too. although he’s described as an unbound soul and likely has thick enough skin that other people’s opinions don’t shake him, i imagine he cares deeply about ours, and whether we accept him for who he is

i know the timelines for the cards tend to be non-linear, but i can’t help wondering whether this would’ve been a pivotal moment in our relationship, one that allowed us to grow closer. maybe that’s why it would’ve been the card given out for free (it serves as a foundational building block for everything that follows)
