Former BioWare designer James Ohlen says he was asked to work on Baldur’s Gate 4 after Larian Studios decided not to make another game in the series.
Ohlen, co-lead designer of Baldur’s Gate 2, turned down the offer because trying to follow Baldur’s Gate 3 would be “insanity.”
“Having to compete against Baldur’s Gate 3? That would be insanity.”
He said Baldur’s Gate 3 raised the bar so high that any sequel would be compared to it.
Dear game devs. Your game engine probably has tools to immitate a scenario of running in low RAM/VRAM.
And even scenarios where you completely stress them.
The situation in the dram market is getting worse. Please use them, and no joke target 4-6GB of VRAM.
