In 2019, after Victor won the initial #Fridaythe13th lawsuit, I convinced Warner Bro's Animation to hear me out on developing an animated Friday the 13th anthology series.
8 Episodes. 30-45 Minutes per episode. Every Halloween Season.
Each episode would be its own idea: Branch off an old film. Fill in a missing gap. Adapt a Wildstorm comic. Do something original. No 2 episodes were the same, unless we were doing a sequel episode in a later season.
Jason Escapes New York. Jason in Hell. Jason X 2. What happened to Chris Higgins? Anime Jason. Undead Roy. Claymation Jason. Jason vs Freddy vs Ash... as well as how I planned to continue the #NeverHikeAlone series.
No, I did not get laughed out of the room. I was invited back to pitch, twice. After what would be the last meeting, the exec in charge of development said: "This might be one of the best pitches I have ever heard."
His next step was to call HBO-GO so I could pitch them on hosting it there. A few weeks later, Sean filed his appeal, and the rights went back into litigation.
So, I packed up my things and continued doing things through crowdfunding. We finished the Never Hike Alone series, and this November, we are releasing our first animated installment.
If #CrystalLake is a hit, this could be a way to revive this idea....
