I've been making YouTube videos for 16 years. This is one of the worst YouTube product changes I have ever seen lmao
I cannot stress enough how anti-creator this is tbqh; @nealmohan@YouTubeInsider I'm begging you guys to reconsider this. There are just so many reasons why it's dreadful:
- I have 2000+ videos on my channel. Going back through all these vids and re-placing ads will take FOREVER
- YouTube's automatic ad placement has historically been so bad that trusting that same algo to decide what is and isn't interruptive is a recipe for disaster. It WILL NOT get it right
- What is "interruptive" timing in one language might not even be interruptive in another. You're pushing multi track audio but this change flies in the face of usage of that feature...
- It's going to massively add to the amount of work we have to do for all future videos to correctly place ads. A 5% revenue uplift isn't gonna mean anything to thousands of small creators when you're giving them so much more faff to deal with per long upload
Make the "interruptive ads" flag something you need to opt INTO on a per video basis to get the revenue uplift, not forced on by default, and definitely not forced onto past content. It's that simple. Please. @TeamYouTube
YouTube are telling me that my ads that are perfectly placed between scenes but have transition sfx are 'interruptive' which is completely wrong. We spend a lot of time insuring the potential ad slots in our videos are best placed for viewers experience.
I then tested YouTube's automatic ad placements and they put them in the middle of a sentence... that is awful
The theory behind the change is great but YouTube's AI for detecting good ad spots is so far off the mark its unreal.
This will cause HUGE problems for all channels
Please revert this until your AI detection is good enough @YouTubeCreators@YouTube
I'm sorry to say it but @YouTube support is the worst of any support i've ever received. We as a business generate them a 7 figure sum each year yet they tell me there is no problem when i've proved there is.
As the owner of my channels I don't have the ability to see the new mid roll features (interuptive ads etc) however some of my team have that view of my channel. To make things worse I don't even see all the ads anymore. My channel manager placed 11 ads but when i look at the video i only see 7
In addition its telling them that ads are interuptive when they genuinely aren't at all. Then when we let YouTube place auto mid rolls its placing them in the middle of a sentence.
You seriously can't make this stuff up
@YouTubeCreators
2 of my channels hit 1 million subscribers on the same day?!?! 🤯
Honestly my mind is blown and just want to say thank you to everyone who watches the content or has helped me through my journey. I appreciate you 🙏
Not sure what I’m going to do to celebrate. I’ve got some accounting stuff I need to do 🤣
Love you guys and thanks again ❤️
