People on the middle right need to learn several things:

1. Modulation never works in any sizable, consistent sense. It confuses and alienates men who would otherwise be allies rather than rallying them; and enemies, rather than afford you any of your qualifications, will only exploit your modulation to make you and your cause look weak.

2. You cannot admit a dire, existential crisis, on the one hand, then forward a conciliatory, moderate solution and method, on the other. It's irrational and absurd and dangerous. This is like a man seeking to have tea time with a demon assaulting his wife.

3. Everything you do is memetic catechesis. If you constantly hedge your words, qualify to the nth degree, and ensure that you're a threat to no one and a friend to all, you are teaching your followers that.

4. You reap what you sow, more than you sow, later than you sow. If you sow compromise and half-measures, you will typically reap ruin and defeat in abundance in the long run. You will also attract those types of men to your "cause."

5. Enemies must be learned from and exploited, not simply dismissed. They don't always lie. The contest is ongoing, which means you must discern and exploit enemy tactics, including flipping the table, e.g. intercept the QB pass.

6. As the overton window shifts, you also must shift, lest you be left behind and become a rightful target of criticism and scorn. E.g. see Jon Harris and Doug Wilson. If you don't want to shift, stay quiet.

7. Always seize—never cede—the moral imperative. Anyone who fails this test as a matter of course is not a leader, nor should they be forwarded in any sense as a worthy representative or sage.

8. There are trailblazers, consolidators, and probers. Most people are the second or third. Few are the first. Find your place. Get to work. Don't usurp what isn't yours and you're not suited for.

9. Many people already secretly agree with us. That's because our position is common sense, natural, historical, and good. They don't need coaxed or given mere arguments; what they need is permission and inspiration, which can be granted only by real leadership with unction.

P.S. There is an entire "reason of state" branch of politics that simultaneously critiques Machiavelli as both evil and imprudent, and also seeks to deal with the concrete dynamics of realpolitik without being a rube. Do some research.
