One of my pet peeves is when I hear: “Just have some confidence in yourself.”
Right, good thought, but how??
Powerful body language increases confidence and decreases cortisol (stress hormone).
Remember, confidence isn’t something you have, it’s something you do.
#GetAHead
It’s not about what you said it’s about how you said it.
When I say ‘don’t stop running’, all I can think about is stopping.
When I say ‘keep going, keep pushing’, I think about following through.
Do you tell yourself what to do or what not to do?
#GetAHead#Selftalk
It’s a strange world when I’m proud that I just asked someone to put their mask on (hanging from their ear talking to me).
My heart was going 190, palms were sweaty, knees weak, arms were heavy..
but I DID IT!
PS: 10,000 cases a day in Texas (current location).

In the same way that other people’s words impact us, what we say to ourselves can help or hinder us.
Consider this; Would you talk to a friend the way you talk to yourself?
If not, it’s time to consider; why do you talk to yourself this way?

To perform our best, we must know what works, what doesn’t work, and what needs work.
During the pandemic, I have had a goal of #running a half-marathon.
Recently, I began reflecting on my runs (see below) so I will know exactly how I can run my best #13.1

Some of the quotes that stood out to me that highlight the depth of the issue:
“Emotional and physical abuse was the norm.”
“Every time I had an injury, I wasn’t believed”
“I wasn’t proud to be an Olympian.”
But most importantly:
“Survivors not victims.”
#AthleteA
#AthleteA has me absolutely shook.
Sport should be an environment that provides a safe space for the youth to grow and develop as athletes and as people.
USA Gymnastics failed so many of those young gymnasts.
Harry: Even though we’ve got a fight ahead of us, we’ve got one thing Voldemort doesn’t.
Ron: Yeah?
Harry: Something worth fighting for.
Never understimate the power of purpose.
Do you know what you’re fighting for?

Reminding all the excited (and nervous) GAA players out there to:
- Trust Yourself: you’ve done it before and you’ll do it again.
- Be nice to yourself: it’s ok if you aren’t in the shape of your life. It’ll come with time.
- Enjoy it.

Frustration builds over time: during a game, day, a week, or over a long time.
A bad morning doesn’t mean a bad day.
One mistake doesn’t ruin an entire performance.
But, failure to move on from one mistake might...
