Very few countries are partitioned (nation detached from state) and the Irish constitution and International Law recognises this reality and has a mechanism to end it.
This is a good idea.
The reason that the GPO is so important is because it was the site of the headquarters of the 1916 rising.
Repurposing it now to fulfill the objectives of the Proclamation of the Irish Republic would be its most fitting use.
