A Cincy-based 501(c)3 charged with taking back walkable public corridors—stairways & alleys—through cleanups, pop-ups, advocacy & preservation. #walkcincysafely
@ElmwoodOtto @BusinessCourier 3CDC is already in the business of keeping them clean, as was the case before the acquisition of DCI. This is a moot point where the same entity seeks control over such public space.
The route is strategically located near @cincinnatimetro Route 31, so people can return to where we start. The walk from the 31 back to Flatiron Cafe is 14 minutes, so please plan accordingly.
It’s happening! Join us Saturday, February 17 at 11am to celebrate 12 years of @CincySiOS! We’ll walk from Mt Auburn to Camp Washington via stairways and alleys, many of which we’ve impacted together.

January 5, 2024 marks the conclusion of a 11-year long push to see the most incredible walking landscape in Cincinnati REOPEN to the public.
Closed since 1995 & barricaded sometime after, hundreds improved these connections to the Wendell Alley Steps with us since February 2012.
By completion on January 12th, you will find a comprehensive map of public stairways in Cincinnati on our website, along with the full inventory of public alleys undergoing its third update.
@nobreadsticks96 @MrKerryMD Indeed. Not entirely sure what the finished state will look like yet, but it’s shown in the plan. Delighted to see reuse of cobbles/bowlders for that purpose, as the path becomes more stable and accessible.
City work on the Wendell Alley Steps commences!
Also, very impressed with evolution of North Wendell Alley, leading from Rice St via St. Joe Al to the top of the stairs. It’s been converted from an overgrown alley w/deteriorated asphalt into a fully accessible pedway with SMP.
Very soon, we’ll tell you the story of this amazing project that’s been near 12 years in the making.
It’s at the very foundation of why we were founded and why we continue to do this work.
Vine Street Hill & its walking connections continue to improve, better than in decades.
This will be hosted on our website after the full stairway system has been mapped.
You can find the full inventory of all public alleys in Cincinnati there, which is currently undergoing its third revision:

Research on an alley in Walnut Hills uncovered an event where activist H. Rap Brown spoke at a press conference in 1968.
Black Arts Studio (726 E McMillan) with Hollaender Alley at rear. @StoriesWH
We’re grateful for @WeMoveCincy’s full replacement of the Brighton Place Stairway (Step ID 018)! It now features stable treads, a bicycle runnel(!!!), and an improved @CincyParks greenspace to the west.
As of Black Friday, only handrails and 101’s need to be installed.
Join us Saturday at 11am, as we’ll clear the last section of debris in (South) Wendell Alley in Mount Auburn.
This is in prep for @WeMoveCincy and @prusconstruct working to reopen the Wendell Alley Steps!
Meet at 2200 Loth. We’ll bring the cider.
Did you know that a handful of public stairways in Cincinnati are sidewalk steps, designed to make it easier to scale inclined streets?
A portion of our once-400+ stairway count has been converted to sidewalks, due to the relative ease of access to sidewalk funding over steps.
