FINAL UPDATE (July 4 at 10:45 p.m.): RCMP NL confirms that the Trans-Canada Highway – near Hillview and the Route 205 turnoff - has fully reopened to traffic in both directions.
RCMP NL sincerely thanks all motorists and residents impacted by the closures for their patience, understanding and full cooperation. We recognize the significant impact these closures had on travel and appreciate everyone who respected the road closure and allowed emergency responders and investigators to safely complete their work and ensure the highway was safe.
We also extend our sincere thanks to our policing partners, firefighters of the Northern Bight Fire Department, Emergency Medical Services personnel, local tow operators, collision analyst investigators, traffic control personnel and all other responders whose professionalism and dedication ensured the scene was managed safely and the highway was reopened as soon as possible.
