WE ALL NEED A SUPPORT STRUCTURE

Mine is my family. A long time ago I went to my first film festival, attended a scriptwriting workshop, and fell head over heels in love with the craft. There and then I determined that was what I wanted to do with the rest of my life.

When I got home, I called my wife and told her my aspirations. Without skipping a beat she told me that if that's what I wanted, she had my back 100%, and so she did, and still does.

My family are my number 1 champions. They believe in me when I don't believe in myself. It took 6 years of blood and sweat, from that initial decision to write, till I got my first feature script commissioned.

I was living on a cattle farm at the time and used the wall of one of the rooms to plan out the beats. I'd work two jobs and then write till the early hours of the morning.

One day I came home and found a note on the wall from my kids. It said... "Write a blockbuster dad!" I took a picture of the wall and I'm glad I did. I felt so loved and supported that day, and that experience has carried me through the years, through the self-doubt, the disappointments, and the challenges.

This week some major studios requested my script. I don't know if this is the year the blockbuster dream becomes a reality, but wow, look how far I've come. And the best part, my family have been alongside me all the way, sharing this journey. I'm truly blessed.
