We are currently 3 days away from a wind event that would most likely trigger PSPS considerations under the dry conditions prior to all that December rain. So far, it seems like all systems go. #SantaAna#PSPS@SCE
Cameron Rising and Matt Corral grew up a mile away from each other in Ventura. The played on the same youth football team. Played against each other in youth basketball. Today, they are quarterbacks leading their team in New Year’s Day bowl games.

#LARain be real safe tomorrow. Wind gusts to 40 MPH and rain. Trees did ok with higher wind speeds during Santa Ana but didn’t have added weight of moisture. Anyways, let’s hope the power stays on and everyone stays safe!
So Monday night and Tuesday until around 4 or 5 PM it will be raining a lot. Heads up that the newly wet yards and potential puddles in the street will also get blasted with 34 degree weather Wednesday AM. A little icy Wednesday AM. Be safe and aware out there!
With tornado sirens going off in downtown Memphis amid a tornado warning in Shelby County, the #Rockets team plane was forced to circle for an hour in turbulence before landing safely after 1 a.m.
Scary stuff across the country with these storms tonight. Stay safe, everyone.
🚨#BREAKING: A Tornado which started in Arkansas 4 hours ago appears to have traveled more than 235 miles (378 km) so far, making it the longest tornado ever recorded in us history
To me, ‘inside slider’ means Santa Ana conditions. So if High stays East, potential wind events; moves west, potential precip. We’ll keep an eye out for ‘Mid-December’.
In CA, this means dry-ish "inside slider"-type systems, which bring colder/windier conditions plus some mountain snow. Toward mid-Dec, if high can move far enough westward, these systems could have more overwater trajectory & bring more widespread precip. Fingers crossed! #CAwx
This is some very early information about Weds., Dec 8th. Wind gusts mid day projected to be 46+. One site says humidities will 36% so not single digits or teens. Interested to see how this pans out and if #PSPS is in play again. @sce
The Santa Ana winds were named as such in 1882, and have been known by indigenous peoples for 5,000 yrs.
However, it wasn't until 2019 that we had enough weather stations to sufficiently measure these wind events.
Look at the change in # of stations between 2018, 2020, & 2021!
Inside the circuit off the 1300 block of La Granada this awful scenario played out. @VENTURASHERIFF happened to be in the neighborhood on another call and acted very quickly to apprehend the armed suspects. Shelter in place, helicopters. Thanks for keeping us all safe!
Last night, many Langer Circuit residents received a shelter in place notification around 2 AM with it being lifted at 2:31 AM. Stay safe out there everyone.
