Anekal’s Pothole Crisis: Look at the MLA’s Response

A woman recently lost her life due to pothole-ridden roads.

People took to the streets for 2–3 days, demanding accountability and action over Anekal’s pathetic roads.

Now, Biocon Executive Chairperson @kiranshaw has raised her voice over the poor roads in Anekal, home to several IT & biotech companies and an important industrial belt of Bengaluru.

And look at the response of the ruling party’s MLA.

Instead of addressing the glaring infrastructure concerns, Anekal MLA B Shivanna questions why Mazumdar-Shaw is raising the issue and suggests she is doing it for publicity.

I believe Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw is far wealthier than the Anekal MLA. Why would she need publicity? A woman who has not only made Karnataka proud, but the entire nation, while also supporting young entrepreneurs and dedicating her time and voice to improving infrastructure in the so-called Silicon Valley of India.

Maybe the MLA should answer why roads repaired with public money don’t even last six months, rather than questioning the person who raised the concern.

ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ್ದೇ ವಿಶೇಷ ಹಬ್ಬಗಳಾದ ನಾಗರಪಂಚಮಿ, ಭೀಮನ ಅಮಾವಾಸ್ಯೆ, ಎಳ್ಳಮಾವಾಸ್ಯೆ, ಮಹಾಲಯ ಅಮಾವಾಸ್ಯೆ, ಹೊಸತೊಡಕು ಮುಂತಾದ ನೆಲಮೂಲದ ಹಬ್ಬಗಳಿಗಿಂತ ದೊಡ್ಡದಾಗಿ ಓಣಂ ಮೆರೆಸಲು ಕಾರಣವೇನು?

ತೆಲುಗು ರಾಜ್ಯದ ರಾಜಕಾರಣಿಗಳು, ಬಿಸಿನಸ್ ಮಾಡೋದು, ಚಿತ್ರರಂಗದವರು ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾವುದೇ ಲಿಮಿಟ್ ಇಲ್ಲದ���ತೆ ಬಿಸಿನೆಸ್ ಮಾಡಿ ಕಾಸ್ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಾರೆ.

ಅದೇ ಕನ್ನಡದ ಒಂದು ಚಿತ್ರ ತೆಲುಗು ನಾಡಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಬಿಡುಗಡೆ ಮಾಡಬೇಕು ಮತ್ತು ಟೆಕೆಟ್ ಗೆ ಸ್ವಲ್ಪನೇ ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಜಾಸ್ತಿ ಚಾರ್ಜ್ ಮಾಡಬೇಕು ಅಂದಾಗ ಸರಕಾರವೇ ಮುಂದೆ ನಿಂತು ಕನ್ನಡ ಸಿನೆಮಾ ನಿರ್ಮಾಪಕರು 1 ಕೋಟಿ ದುಡ್ಡನ್ನು ತೆಲುಗು ಸಿನೆಮಾ ಸಂಘಕ್ಕೆ ಕೊಡಬೇಕು ಅನ್ನೋ ಆದೇಶ ಮಾಡುತ್ತೆ.

ಕೆಲವು ತಿಂಗಳ ಹಿಂದೆ, ಕನ್ನಡದ ಒಂದು ಚಿತ್ರ ಬಿಡುಗಡೆ ಮಾಡಬೇಕು ಅಂದಾಗಲೂ ಕ್ಯಾತೆ ತೆಗೆದಿದ್ರು‌‌‌. ಒಟ್ಟಾರೆ ಇವರು ಕರ್ನಾಟಕವನ್ನು ಹಿಂಡಿ ದುಡ್ಡು ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬಹುದು. ಕನ್ನಡಿಗರು ಏನಾದರೂ ತೆಲುಗು ನಾಡಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಬಿಸಿನೆಸ್ ಮಾಡಬೇಕು ಅಂದರೆ ಕಪ್ಪ ಕೊಡಬೇಕು.

ಈ ಕಾರಣಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ನಾವು ತೆಲುಗು ಭಾಷಿಕರನ್ನು ಧ್ವೇಷಿಸಬೇಕು ಅವರಿಗೆ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವಕಾಶ ನೀಡಬಾರದು ಅಂತಲ್ಲಾ‌. ಅವರಿಗಿರೋ ಅವಕಾಶ ನಮ್ಮವರಿಗೂ ಇರಬೇಕು. ಕನ್ನಡಿಗರು ಉದಾರತನ ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಅವರು ನಮ್ಮ ನಾಡಲ್ಲಿ ಲಾಭ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವಾಗ ನಮಗೂ ಅವರ ನಾಡಲ್ಲಿ ಲಾಭ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ಸಮಾನ ಅವಕಾಶವಿದೆಯೇ ಎಂದು ನೋಡುವುದನ್ನು ಕಲಿಯಬೇಕು.

ತಮ್ಮ ರಾಜ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಉದ್ಯೋಗ ಸೃಷ್ಟಿ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ಆಗದ, ಸರಿಯಾದ ಶಾಲೆ ಕಾಲೇಜು ಕಟ್ಟಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ಆಗದ ಕೇರಳ ರಾಜ್ಯದವರು ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ಪರವಾಗಿ ಕಾನೂನು ರೂಪಿಸುವುದನ್ನು ವಿರೋಧಿಸುವ ಮಟ್ಟಕ್ಕೆ ಬೆಳೆಯುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ‌‌. ಕೆಲವು ತಿಂಗಳ ಹಿಂದೆ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ಸರಕಾರ ಉದ್ಯೋಗ ಮೀಸಲಾತಿ ಕಾನೂನು ಜಾರಿಗೆ ತರಲು ಹೊರಟಾಗ ಕೇರಳ ರಾಜ್ಯದ ರಾಜಕಾರಣಿಗಳು ವಿರೋಧಿಸಿದ್ದರು. ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ಗಡಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಕೇರಳದಿಂದ ಕಸ ಎಸೆಯುವ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ವರದಿಗಳು ಬಂದಿವೆ, ಕರ���ನಾಟಕ ಸರಕಾರ ನಮ್ಮ ಕಾಡು, ಕಾಡುಪ್ರಾಣಿ ಸಂರಕ್ಷಣೆಗೆ ರಾತ್ರಿ ಕಾಡಿನಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಹನ ನಿಶೇದಿಸಿರುವುದನ್ನು ತೆರವುಗೊಳಿಸಲು ದೆಹಲಿಯ ಮೂಲಕ ಒತ್ತಡ ತರಲು ಪ್ರಯತ್ನಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ‌. ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ಮಂಗಳೂರು ರೈಲನ್ನು ಮೈಸೂರು ವಲಯಕ್ಕೆ ಸೇರಿಸಿದಾಗಲೂ ವಿರೋಧಿಸಿ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ಸರಕಾರ ಮಾತನಾಡದಂತೆ ಒತ್ತಡ ಹೇರಿದ್ದಾರೆ‌.

ಒಂದು ಕಡೆ ಕೇರಳ ರಾಜ್ಯದಿಂದ ಅನಿಯಂತ್ರಿತ ವಲಸೆ. ಇನ್ನೊಂದು ಕಡೆ ಕೇರಳ ರಾಜ್ಯದ ಆಚರಣೆಯನ್ನು ಸರಕಾರೀ ಇಲಾಖೆಗಳ ಮೂಲಕ normalize ಮಾಡುವ ಪ್ರಯೋಗಗಳು ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಕೇರಳ ಲಾಬಿ ಜೋರಾಗಿ ನಡೆಯೊಕ್ಕೆ ಸಾಕ್ಷಿ.

ಕನ್ನಡಿಗರು ಎಚ್ಚೆತ್ತುಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕಾದ ಸಮಯವಿದು, ಇದ್ಯಾವುದೋ ಒಂದು ಹಬ್ಬದ ಶುಭಾಶಯ ಹೇಳುವ ಸಂದೇಶ ಎಂದು ��ಿಂಪಲ್ ಆಗಿ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳೋ ವಿಚಾರವಲ್ಲ. ಕರ್ನಾಟಕವನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿತಕ್ಕ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳೋಕ್ಕೆ ಕೇರಳಾ ಲಾಬಿ ಬಹಳ ವ್ಯವಸ್ತಿತವಾಗಿ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದೆ.‌.

Curious Case of Japanese man named "Hirotoshi Tanaka" in Bangalore, India.

Hirotoshi Tanaka came to Bengaluru to learn English. What followed became a 5½-year fight involving jail, alleged police corruption, deportation, a stolen police chair and finally compensation.

- In 2019, Japanese national Hirotoshi Tanaka arrived in Bengaluru to study English. Within weeks, a dispute with the head of his coaching centre escalated and Tanaka admitted hitting him.

- A criminal case followed. Although the alleged offences were bailable, Tanaka was arrested and eventually spent 19 days in Bengaluru Central Prison.

-The Karnataka State Human Rights Commission later concluded that proper legal procedure had not been followed and that his arrest and detention were illegal and violated his human rights.

- Tanaka also alleged that a police officer demanded money from him. The officer has denied the bribery allegations and maintains that he acted according to procedure.

-The original criminal dispute with the coaching-centre head was eventually settled, and in November 2020 the Karnataka High Court quashed the FIR.

-But Tanaka wasn't finished. He approached the Karnataka State Human Rights Commission, challenging the conduct of the police and pursuing his allegations even as his immigration situation became increasingly difficult.

-Then came the extraordinary part: facing deportation, Tanaka took a plastic chair from a police office, hoping police would arrest him so he could remain in India and continue pursuing his case. Police didn't take the bait.

-He was eventually deported to Japan in April 2021. But distance didn't end the fight. From Japan, he continued pursuing his complaint through his Bengaluru lawyer.

-In 2022, the Human Rights Commission recommended ₹75,000 compensation, disciplinary action against the officer concerned, and guidelines for police dealing with foreign nationals or people unable to understand the process.

-When implementation didn't happen promptly, Tanaka went to the Karnataka High Court.

-Years after arriving in India simply to learn English, Tanaka finally received the ₹75,000 compensation in 2026.

- And remarkably, Bengaluru gave Tanaka something else too: he met the woman who would eventually become his wife.
