Civic Voice brought together civil society organizations and grassroots actors for a final convening to solidify the framework and Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for a new consortium dedicated to advancing youth participation in governance, democracy, and electoral processes.
The discussions also reaffirmed a shared commitment to ensuring that young people are not merely participants in governance processes, but active leaders shaping the future of their communities and country.
In Kisumu County, young changemakers gathered for a hands-on learning session led by Civic Voice, focusing on what it truly takes to drive civic engagement, build collective power, and organize for change.
By equipping young people with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to organize effectively, Civic Voice continues to strengthen youth leadership and support citizen-led movements that contribute to more responsive, accountable, and inclusive governance.
Civic Voice was in Kisumu County bringing together young leaders for an interactive training on civic participation, collective action, and movement building.
The sessions blended practical learning and dialogue, helping participants explore how change happens in communities.
Discussions highlighted barriers to youth participation—access to IDs,unemployment, and political disillusionment.Participants linked these to local issues, from service delivery & security to jobs and gender equality,while exploring ways to engage leaders and advocate for change
As Kenya approaches another election, the central question is not only how many young people will vote, but how they will participate in shaping governance before, during, and after the electoral period.

A Senior Counsel, longtime member of the International Commission of Jurists Kenya (ICJ Kenya) and a courageous human rights champion, he made great contributions to justice, constitutionalism, and the rule of law that helped shape Kenya’s democratic journey.
His legacy now lives on in the city he served.
