Have to say a big thank you to the audiology dept at St Helier Hospital today. Called at 09:00 to say hearing aid faulty. Went in at 13:45 and had a new one sorted by 14:30. Well done #NHS
@Morbidful A wonderful, heartwarming ending to a story that could have ended in tragedy. However, I suspect that it was a team of prosthetists rather than doctors who 3D printed and this. Another example of the great work the professionals allied to medicine perform.
@DaveWallsworth Got a BBC ‘B’ in 1982 (my then-girlfriend got an engagement ring). Learned to program in Basic and produced some half-decent results given it only had 32K of RAM and no disk drive.
Later used a Wang computer at work (don’t think it was ever used for any real work though).
@RevRichardColes I was recently fitted with Oticon Optims on the NHS. Took a bit of getting used to, but now feel lost without them. They have a noise cancelling function accessible via an app and a speech in a noisy environment setting which is directional. Good old NHS, saved me a fortune.
@carshaltonviews I remember playing around the pond as a child, so it was probably filled in around the 1970’s. I’m sure local historians can provide an accurate date.
