So dropping their pretax income by £24,000 (dropping post tax income by give or take £12k), post tax AA charge decreased by £22.5k.

One of our senior Neurosurgical Registrars has just resigned to do exactly this. Better pay, better work-life balance, working outside of medicine. One less Neurosurgeon. Another huge loss to the NHS.
